Apparently this is because they routinely stop writing them leading up a new release. God knows why. It must be hard to write a few lines pimping your upcoming saleable product. it's good press and marketing FD could learn a thing or two from the marketing blitzkrieg that is star citizen.

I would assume it might have something to do with Stock Market rules - anything that could affect share valuation has to be released to the Stock Market first, telling us what's happening (dates information screenshots etc) or not could be seen as market sensitive information the close we get to a release

This is the bizarre thing about threads like this. The reason the developers go silent (or at least a little quieter than usual) as they approach their deadlines is staring us in the face, but we seem to be so wrapped up in our sense of importance and entitlement that we're not prepared to apply a little common sense and exercise some patience. It's very clear what the alternative to 'our' developers rolling their sleeves up and working on content is- SC's tsumani of aggrandisement and self promotion, endlessly milking the cash cow with promises of jam tomorrow! Is that really what we want?

Personally, if I never read or watched another dev diary or pre release statement from FD I would be a little disappointed. I enjoy those releases, they satisfy my inner geek. But as long as they keep coming up with great content and addressing the various bugs and imbalances that appear I'd accept their stony silence. Happily that's unlikely- once the workload peak has subsided, they'll be back to their usual game, normal service resumed.

Maybe we should just quit dripping long enough for them to get on with their day job
? [weird]

what stock market rules you talking about again?

Frontier Developments are a listed company on the AIM as such they have to abide by their rules which includes the release of market sensitive information - the delay to 2.1 was released there before this site (which caused a few uninformed people to be unhappy) but anything market sensitive has to be released to the market before anyone else

Is there anything still going on? Have been away waiting for bookmarks, so i can finally play with a VR headset. But shockingly no news for what seems forever for a game in development. Quite sad I must say.

Yes, Elite is dead. Sandro posted they would continue working on Powerplay and CQC in April as the rent is already paid, but its done after that. Luckily I've heared great stories about Star Citizen and NMS, maybe you should try their forums.

Man this is so sad. I'm gutted.

Still at least those other games are coming out. They look better anyway.

Bookmarks have been shown in the newsletters. Try giving them a read first before writing things off :)
