I've only had the DC freak out on me twice.
First time was when I tried the Cutter in the Horizons 2.0 beta. Slammed head first into the station and exploded...granted, I was flying like I was in the Annie boosting boosting boosting before I let the computer take over...it didn't handle that well.
Second time I was in an Asp and it just couldn't land...would hover over the spot and then drift right as it descended...up then down, up then down...kinda funny really. Was the last time I used a DC on anything smaller than...well, a Cutter
With the cutter, I just close within dock request range and let the DC take over...a few dozen landings now, no issues, fingers crossed
Yes, this was the glitch that filled the stations with wrecked NPCs too as they couldn't land either. It was at this time I removed all my DCs and found all sorts of uses for that extra slot!
