Lateral and vertical thrusters with X55 or other HOTAS?

Hello there

Im running a halfbreed Thrustmaster Cougar Stick and A flightstick X throttle. (Dont ask).

Anyhoo i bind my thrust up,down, left and right to a hat om my stick. Makes landing a joy.

Same for me. I don't fight all that much, precision landings are way more important to me. That, and I like learning to go station-to-station with FA off all the way.

How did you bind them? I use them a lot with keyboard and mouse and I'm wondering if there is something I'm going to miss switching to a HOTAS.
Also, how did you manage to use the reverse throttle?

Thank you.

I use the 8-direction HAT for it. I've set the throttle to forward only, and bound a key to reverse. So with one press I go from full forward to full reverse. :)

I use Warthog stick together with a Razer Tartarus gamepad, it rocks, just as good as a full HOTAS system
If you go for the better HOTAS you get way more buttons/hats/sliders than you really need

Yep, and it's great. :D I have a redundant pip system built in to my control scheme based on how I use freelook, and I've seen other pilots mention different redundancies they've added for extra control. With the full CH setup I've never ever needed the mode layering available in the control software.

One of the two "red" 4-way thumb buttons work fine for up-down-left-right thrusters, on the X55. I use the top one.
On a slightly related note: I want to configure the "green" SLD switch so thatI can use it to toggle thrust direction on the throttle. Anterior position - forward thrust, posterior position - reverse thrust. Anyone know how to configure that?
