Latest "Beta" nVidia Driver

Hi All

Hope everyone had a good Christmas, and best wishes to all (especially FD and everyone of the ED Dev Team....you are outstanding!)
.
Firstly let me say (IMHO) that Elite Dangerous is absolutely THE BEST thing to hit the PC .... bar none......EVER! I know there are moans, complaints and bad vibes going on in some quarters but again; IMHO ED must be just the outcome David was aiming at from way-back in 84. Not to say that there aren't further improvements to be made (i.e. making ED "more challenging"...you can even fix this for yourself if you try)
.
As you can probably tell, I'm enjoying ED immensely! I've just taken early retirement from my career, and sad I know, but find myself playing ED 4-5 hours a day!
.
The reason for my post:
.
I have just installed the NVidia Beta Driver 347.09 issued 23.12.2014......OH YEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!! ED on my GPU and monitors (see below) is now even more stunning, these drivers "optimised for Elite Dangerous" have made an unbelievable difference. I have had to make some serious physical adjustment to my Asus monitors to achieve the best star field, but trust me; it is well worth spending the time optimising your set-up. N.B. I also use and recommend; the NVidia GeForce Experience to manage/download/set-up my drivers. This also applies tailored enhancements to specific games...if you turn it on.
.
Anyway... there's my tuppence worth... for what it's worth!!:p
.
See you out there!

installed the driver, it changed my screen settings to higher then the native on my monitor regular Screenshots are now 5. 95 MB... High Def ones... 189 Mb.. LOL (looks nice tho :D)
all while still running at 60 fps even on my older nvidea card. (GTX 680 4mb ram) one of those days i splurge and update the card :D

I thought they were whql?

Hi Rupok, You may well be right, but when I installed off the GeForce Experience driver manager; it stated "beta", I did ponder for a few seconds, as I usually only use WHQL'd drivers, but thought what-the-heck go for it. But things do move quickly and I expect you are right that they have now been OK'd by Microsoft.
.
Cheers

Fyi, that driver caused blue screen every time I tried to set up 3 monitors surround.

Had to revert to previous drivers to get that to work.

GTX970

That's a real shame, but your card is so much newer/cutting-edge/cool when compared to mine (see below); that it probably benefits not-a-bit from a driver update than lagging GPU's like mine do! With my new driver, I'm thinking I might be seeing a little more of what you already have.

Uhh, I don't get what the OP is saying. It sounds like you're saying the drivers made your game look better, but drivers only enhance performance. I can't make heads or tails of your post.

I'm running a GTX 680 ti and I average 140 - 160 fps with everything maxed. You shouldn't need to update that card for this game.

GPU drivers affect performance, IQ and a host of other aspects like compatibility, thermal performance e.t.c, e.t.c.

Sorry my other comment was meant for you. I run 140-160 fps with everything maxed on my GTX 680 ti. You should be getting much higher frame rates. I haven't really found any game I can't max out yet with my card other then SC at this point.

Well thank you very much for the education. As a non-techy I certainly need it. Sorry you can't make head or ("nor":p) tail of my post, I did think my use of English was fairly good..... so I'll try again: I installed the driver and using the "NVidia GeForce Experience" thingy, applied ???? The suggested ED tailored optimisations, then adjusted my monitors' picture quality controls, and whether or not drivers do or do not improve visual experience..... something certainly improved my visual enjoyment of ED...by probably a good 25%:)

Glad too hear this as I've ordered a gtx760 should be turning up tomorrow as my gtx570 phantom died back in may & been using a 5850 a mate lent me
