Latest nVidia Driver (390.65) Any good for Oculus VR?

Installed 390.65 yesterday (fresh install) and played for some hours, didn't notice any difference. I expect the newer drivers to work better with Dash over time (388.31 is the minimum requirement), so I always run the latest. Dont know whether 390 already has the Meltdown/Spectre fixes or not.

EDIT: Yes, it has.

I updated, and it's a bad version for me and quite a few other people on Oculus. The headset is unresponsive when you first boot up Windows, and you have to restart the OVRServer to get it to work again. This has been reported by other people on reddit and nvidia forums. I'd stay away.

I had issues with it. Had a "cannot lock a buffer" error whilst playing ED in VR, plus a couple of other issues. Have gone back to 388.43. The only reason to upgrade to 390.65 is the security patches, but there's no point if you can't enjoy your favourite game :)

I violated my self-imposed rule of "don't upgrade if it ain't broken" because I wanted to test out the Freestyle feature in 390. Obviously the cons outweigh the pros so I'll be going back to 388.43 tonight.

Updated to 390.65 and GeForce Ex 12 a few days ago to see if Freestyle works with ED. It doesn't (not one of the supported games so no surprise really). None of the problems described in this thread (or at all) with the driver. Feel like I've dodged a bullet reading the other posts.
