Latest update .. can't scoop star by orbiting it using supercruise assist

This used to work .. I need fuel .. get to a scoopable star .. supercruise assist to orbit .. go pee.
Now, not only is there some odd little bouncy dance that happens before orbit but my fuel scoop doesn't engage.
Is this broken?

ok, I'll bite why not?
I don't feel particularly strongly about it, but I do kinda think that maybe people should actually fly their ships, rather than just put them on autopilot and go make a brew. But I'm not a combat pilot, so supercruise is more significant to me than, say, someone who has mastered FA-off dogfighting.

But, you know, ED has turned out to be a very different game from the one I hoped it would be, so sure, why not, if it makes people happy? 🤷‍♂️

Radius of the star, heat, temp etc all may make a difference. Some stars have different distance exclusion zones than others, have you tried it with a number of different stars. Having said that, I don't think it should be a thing. SCA should be something you use when it's safe, scooping stars isn't safe.

Auto dock I was ok with. auto pilot, auto land, auto scoop. What's next? Auto trade, auto combat, auto mine, auto explore? Getting a bit ridiculous.

I tried some different scoopable stars (Phantom, 6A Fuel Scoop) and SC keeps the safe distance (temperature is low). No fuel scooping.
Is it broken? I don't know. At the same time it's logical (for safety reasons) and illogical (for fuel scooping).
But if SCA is module which take care about safety, then it shouldn't try to fly through the planets!

The sad thing is, people would eat it up. Just have to see the constant demands that materials be easier to get, money easier to get, engineering easier to do, missions easier to complete...

Apex is here.
And from Apex to full auto-pilot is not that much of a jump

Not sure i'd want it as an universal thing.
But it could be a thing for ships that can use the SLF Crew for this.
It would feel quite nice to be able to let the ship to be flown by your NPC crew that you can see in a chair next to you.

Regarding Fuel Scooping and SCA - i guess that's a little beyond the scope of SCA.

Well, they are, like Northpin said we got Apex.

I am not against auto-anything as long as it's less efficient and we got something else to do.
I could imagine to stand up and walk to the FSS terminal while my ship automatically refuels in a safe orbit.

SCA in EDO and EDH work differently. That might explain it. I have no experience.

(silly debating about if this is Oke or not.. )

Well, no, you aren't actually in danger until you get to the the exclusion zone, and really it's not that dangerous, I have hit a few and just lost a few hull points. But if you try to log off to close to a star you get a warning about being in danger and waiting 15 seconds, but log off near a planet exclusion zone and you get no such thing, so SCA doesn't know you are in danger until you hit the exclusion zone, and by then it's to late!
