Greetings Commanders,
All over the lockdown period I've been working in my 'secret lab' updating and enhancing my current v5 Elite Dangerous motion rig. Those that have seen my previous vids will know that I only designed/built/use it for Elite, it has 6dof, can carry up to 14stone and adds another dimension to the game.
I fly it every day, is totally reliable (10hrs+ sessions! at a time) and it always puts a smile on my face. One of the best projects I've ever done. Great fun and all in wide-angle VR.
I was booked to show it off at the Elite Community Meet (ECM) in Cambridge back in Easter but we all know what happened to social gatherings don't we.
Instead, I have now gotten around to putting a 16 min (HD) vid together to show the technological wonder that it has now become for you to review. Its four microprocessor controllers and my code have never failed after 100's hrs of flight-time since lockdown. They all play together nicely, with my main pc (the Cray) in overall control.
The vid shows the enhancements, some tech specs, demos the flight operations and ends with some game-play with picture-in-picture throughout which all took a while to orchestrate but I think you'll like the results.
I'm not certain what the future holds for me, my motion sim (and accompanying VR) and my further developments, regarding ED Odyssey (although I'm pretty resourceful) - so will have to wait and see. For now though, I'm having a great time.
See you in the black!
