Latin America animal pack - Dreams vs. Nightmares

My dream: animal pack with mixture of animals from Central America, the Caribbean and South America, at least it should contain a habitat bird or a New World monkey species.

Roaster:
1. White-nosed coati or South American coati (but personally, I prefer the former than the latter)
2. Ocelot
3. Greter rhea
4. Spectacled bear
5. Geoffroy's spider monkey
6. Occelated turkey
7. Cuban crocodile
8. Scarlet macaw (WE)

My nightmare:
First scenario: Scenery pack.
Second scenario: Animal pack without birds and monkeys, heavly South America based and focused one taxonomic group.

Dreams:
Bush-dog (along with mongooses, these ladies are most underrated animals on this forum)
White-faced saki
Golden lion tamarin
Patagonian Mara
South American coati
Roseate spoonbill
Brown/Peruvian pelican
Chacoan peccary

With southern pudú being my wishlist backup.

Nightmares:
Alpaca
One monkey (I can’t fathom that there would not be a monkey in a Latin American or Central American pack)
No birds
Caiman (although Cuban crocodile would be cool)
Ocelot (don’t come for me)

Honestly, South America needs so many animals that anything would be welcome.

I just want bushdog parades.

Sincerely,

A cat person

Not really my personal dream but I think overall for the forum this is the best possible roster:

1. Greater Rhea (Bird slot, also gives a needed boost to Patagonia)
2. Patagonian Mara (The most wanted rodent and a second needed boost to Patagonia)
3. Spectacled Bear (The most wanted bear and the main Andean animal everyone wants)
4. Collared Peccary (Ungulate slot that boosts a ton of regions including NA deserts)
5. South American Coati (One of the most wanted animals currently that gives a huge boost)
6. Black Howler Monkey (Most popular NW monkey)
7. Guianan Squirrel Monkey (Another NW monkey that would potentially require less work while still being popular)
8. Either some callitrichids in walkthrough or the emerald tree boa as an exhibit. (People are split on Tamarins in WE)

1. South American coati (headliner)
2. Ocelot or Bushdog
3. Greater rhea or Roseate Spoonbill
4. Spectacled bear
5. Geoffroy's spider monkey or Black howler monkey
6. Tamandua
7. Patagonian Mara
8. Scarlet macaw, if we don't get aviaries then two toed sloth or tamarins (WE)

Dream list:
  • Ocelot
  • South American coati
  • Greater rhea
  • Patagonian mara
  • Spectacled bear
  • Common squirrel monkey
  • Black howler or Geoffroy's spider monkey
  • Two-toed sloth species (WE)
The first four and a monkey are absolutely essential, but beyond that I'm open to quite a few alternatives. Bush dog, southern tamandua, Brazilian tapir, tayra, a peccary, any bird they'd be willing to grace us with, or any common-in-captivity monkey (no uakaris!) would be very welcome.

Nightmare list:
  • Alpaca, guanaco, or vicuña
  • Black caiman
  • Humboldt penguin
  • Nutria
  • Bald uakari
  • Margay
  • Guinea pig
  • a snake I guess
Redundant, rare in captivity, or a worse alternative to a more important species. I wouldn't even be opposed to the guinea pig in all situations, but in this sort of lineup it really feels like the cherry on top of "what am I supposed to do with this".

Dreams:
  • Aviary: MACAWS, Toucans, Harpy Eagle, Andean Condor
  • Spectacled Bear
  • Ocelot
  • Agouti
  • Coatimundi
  • Tamandua
  • Screaming Hairy Armadillo
  • Patagonian Mara
  • Kinkajou
  • Chinchilla
  • Jaguarundi
  • Olinguito
  • Bush Dog
  • Greater Rhea
  • Preferred Primates: Geoffrey’s Spider Monkey, Black Howler Monkey, Squirrel Monkey, Bald Uakari
  • Preferred Crocodilians: Orinoco Crocodile, Black Caiman
  • Exhibit Animals: Emerald Tree Boa, Caiman Lizard
Nightmares:
  • Cuban Crocodile (I prefer other crocodiles or caimans.)
Indifferent:
  • Scenery Pack
  • Two-Toed Sloth (We’ve already received the other sloth. I’d prefer to have the slot open for another type of animal.)
  • Vicuña

I think, the Central America animal pack would be a better choice than the Latin America animal pack, but I don't rule out the latter alternative either, since more animals would be nice from South America and the Caribbean, too.

Dream pack:
  1. Ocellated turkey
  2. Venezuelan red howler monkey
  3. Bolivian squirrel monkey
  4. Bush dog
  5. Chacoan peccary
  6. Patagonian mara
  7. Grey-winged trumpeter
Walkthrough exhibit. Red-billed toucan
OR
Exhibit. Surinam grasshopper

Nightmare pack:
  1. Alpaca
  2. Guinea pig
  3. Another caiman
  4. One of the South American foxes
  5. Neotropical otter
  6. Crab-eating raccoon
  7. A second capuchin
Exhibit. Another impossible-to-keep species, similar to the titan beetle

I wouldn't actually mind some of the animals, particularly a second capuchin, but they would be disappointing compared to other potential options.

Realistic pack (one I think is more likely to happen than my dream pack):
  1. Ring-tailed coati
  2. A new monkey type (spider, howler or woolly, don't particularly care which)
  3. A peccary (remake from other suids)
  4. Greater rhea (remake from the ostrich)
  5. Kinkajou (remake from the binturong)
  6. Ocelot (remake from other cats)
  7. A second armadillo (remake from the nine-banded armadillo) - I did think of putting red-footed tortoise here, but I'm not sure if a new tortoise would really be considered for such a pack
Walkthrough exhibit. Linne's two-toed sloth
OR
Exhibit. Another poison frog

My dream is for ir to be an animal pack just because i want a lot of animals. But i warmed up to the idea of also being a scenery pack with Brazilian theming. Maybe Amazon pack?

But since my dream scenario involves an animal pack i'll base my roster with the in mind

My perfect roster for this pack would be

1. Southamerican coati
2. Greater rhea
3. Patagonian mara
4. Any howler monkey (red or black and gold being my preference)
5. Collared peccary
6. Ocelot
7. So many possibilities. I'll be fine with another monkey, either spider or squirrel. But i would also like another bird (Scarlet ibis, roseatte spoonbill, Southern screamer). I can also see an oddball inclusion here be it tamandua, another armadillo (giant please), agouti or coendu.
8. Exhibit: i would not mind a regular exhibit in this case tbh. I really want a green anaconda. Mata mata turtle, plumed basilisk, blue poison dart frog or emerald tree boa all being good choices as well. Even the pink fairy armadillo could be fun.

For the WTE i really want birds. That would be My dream. Mainly macaws, but toucans and humingbirds are also good options. But if we don't get birds then i prefer a regular exhibit animal. Unless they do tamarins, but honestly i prefer them as habitat.

Now the nightmare scenario:

1. No bird
2. No coati
3. Another sloth
4. No monkey
5. Another flamingo
6. Another penguin
7. Weird obscure choices like tayra, kinkajou or something like that.

Honestly? There is almost no way a Latin American animal pack would be a nightmare for me. But let's go with it, as I did say "almost". For the sake of mechanics, I'm not going to list any small birds that might could be WTE appropriate, since those alone would take up an entire animal pack. Nationalism bias for the Bald Eagle aside, the Macaws are the top "group" of smaller birds I'd love to see in the game, followed very closely by Toucans. Anyways...

Dream:
Spectacled Bear (quite possibly will come some other way, but just in case - assuming it made it in at all of course)
Patagonian Mara
Coatimundi (any species)
Black Howler Monkey
Squirrel Monkey (any species)
Brazilian Porcupine (I have not given up on you my little friend!)
Scarlet Ibis
Two Toed Sloth species (WTE)

That's leaving off other animals I'd be totally happy to get, but I prefer the Squirrel Monkeys to the Spider Monkeys, and I'm okay with getting or not getting both the Ocelot and Collard Peccary - both of which I think its actually realistically probable, especially if they were to focus on Central America. Also the Tamarins would be great for exhibit mammals. There's just so much of anything from this Latin America that would be welcome.

Nightmare:
More of.omissions I guess, things that would not be included versus what is.

1. No Monkey- I cannot even. I mean why even bother doing a Central/South American animal pack if there wasn't a single monkey included. Seriously, don't bother, it's too cruel.
2. Another Armadillo (yuck to the first, that goes double for a second)
3. Yet another Caiman

that's literally it.I guess I have my expectations set too low, or am just that welcoming to almost any additions to South America.

Because some are putting this out there as well:
Realistic:
Black Howler Monkey
Ocelot
White Nosed Coati
Collared Peccary
Two toed SLoth (WTE)

I'm pretty set on that lineup for the Central/Latin America scenery pack, but to add three more animals for the realistic animal pack:

Squirrel Monkey (any species): - not just bias here to choose it over a Spider-Monkey, thinking of the design work. The Coati will take a lot of the work here, and the Howler Monkey probably would too, so having a second primate that is close to what we have now would help. A Spider Monkey would take a bit more work. That's also why you won't see the Brazilian Porcupine on this realistic roster (I'm sorry my little friend you are too difficult!)

Spectacled Bear - assuming it's not already released in some other way, if so, replace it with the Patagonian Mara
Greater Rhea - another animal that wouldn't be as much effort.

Not necessarily exact species wise, but that would give two spots to animals that aren't immediately thought of Amazonian South America. Having some representation with that here would be great.

Dream: 2 packs, one to boost the animals and one to add some more representative pieces:
  • Amazon Animal Pack: Black and Gold Howler Monkey, Golden Lion Tamarin, Southern Tamandua, Brazilian Porcupine, South American Coati, Red Rumped Agouti, Macaws
  • Central America Pack: Collared Peccary, Geoffroy's Spider Monkey, Roseate Spoonbill, Ocelot (or Margay), Toucans
  • Other Key Animals: Mara, Spectacled Bear, Rhea, Squirrel Monkey, other tamarins, Emerald Tree Boa
Nightmare: only one Latin America scenery pack with fewer than two monkeys or no birds. I will be very sad if the Golden Lion Tamarin isn't added. It's been at the top of my wishlist since I started playing after the Arctic pack.

I really think a howler and/or spider monkey, tamarins, a pink/red bird, an ocelot/margay, coati, spectacled bear, and a tamandua are deeply essential to bring SA to a similar state to other continents. While not quite on the same level for me, many have also made strong cases for peccaries, rheas, maras, and squirrel monkeys, too.
  • The capuchin needs at least two more primates to keep it company. New world primates are very popular in real-world zoos! Ideally, I'd want howler, spider, squirrel monkeys, tamarins, uakaris, and maybe a saki. There are a few other options for oddballs that I'd welcome, too.
  • Ocelots are popular, iconic, and fill a different niche in zoos than jaguars or mountain lions. We don't have a little jungle cat, yet.
  • Coatis are one of if not the most requested animals.
  • Spectacled bears are the most-requested bear.
  • SA's only bird is the King penguin, which barely counts in my eyes.
  • The tamandua would add an arboreal xanarthran that can go into a habitat.
  • Maras and rheas would allow for the classic mixed exhibits with the llamas to represent Argentina.
  • Peccaries add another different ungulate with a very wide range.

It’s clear for most of us that overall we just want more, with only a handful of personal non-wants.

Latin/Central/South America is the gift that keeps on giving .

Central America Scenery Pack
Latin America Animal Pack
Amazon Animal Pack
Patagonian Scenery Pack
SA/LA/CA Bird expansion pack
SA/LA/CA Primates animal pack
Caribbean Scenery Pack.

Not just one of the above I would take them all, and would quite honestly be able to make separate rosters for all 7.

Sigh... another one of these threads... for Latin America? Any reason for this topic specifically?
It’s gearing up to be the popular assumption for Spring release- probably will be proven way off though. And these threads have been going for quite some time. To each their own on if you find them fun or not. :)
