Launch confirmation

We've all pushed the wrong button and found ourselves rotating out of the hangar.
Wouldn't it make sense that there was some way to abort the launch (even at the cost of a small file to air traffic control for their aggro), rather than having to leave the station, clear the trespass zone, then re-apply for docking permission just because of a stupid mistake?

I have to agree with that. Just a few nights ago I had a problem with my controls not working properly and could have done with landing again to see what the problem was. Instead I was moving erratically around and not even able to reach the exit. Seeing my Hauler was becoming more and more damaged, I exited and saved the game, hoping I might be back in the hangar.... On logging back in I was outside the station - with hull showing as 0%! Fortunately, I did make it back in and landed, despite still having some problems, but it would have been a lot easier if I could have just aborted the original takeoff. :)

I agree. That is a good idea and it adds some realism too.
In general I would like to have a bit more flexible comm options for stations anyway and this fits right in.

For example I also would like to be able to ask for an extension of my departure time when leaving the station. Sometimes the entrance can get clogged up, or there is much incoming traffic, or there is a griefer, I mean pirate, waiting outside to attack defenseless haulers.

makes sense.
maybe a two step would be best.
it even would take some server load.

say a prepare to launch button.
then launch or cancel launch.
no fines needed then you never bothered any one.
and less work for FD

edit , shouldn't this be moved to proposals?

How about if you're in the hangar, you can abort anytime before you reach the launch position by pressing the launch button again (at which point the animation reverses). If you're already sitting on the launchpad, tough.
