Launcher issues

Hi, looking for some assistance. I bought ED a while ago, but am just now trying to start playing it, but am having issues with the launcher.

First issue. When I run the launcher, I get constant IE mixed content security popups. I have worked around them for now by just allowing mixed content in the internet zone. I would just prefer to add any required sites to trusted sites though and set Internet zone back to defaults. Anyone know the URLs I would need to add? Looking with URLSnooper, it just seems to be accessing a bunch of AWS links.

The second issue is that when I click on Upgrade for ELITE DANGEROUS:HORIZONS, the launcher just freezes. Virtually no network traffic from it. Again, may be related to IE security settings.

Any assistance appreciated.

Footnote.
It is a bit painful that the launcher seems to depend on IE, which has been dead for a while. Any plans for a more modern application?

May have fixed the freeze issue. Disabled cache checking, added an AV exclusion and it is doing something now!
Would still like to know if there are URLs I can add to the trusted zone though to fix the mixed content warnings.

I started having a problem recently where the game was taking 5 minutes or more to start up, and couldn't work out why or what changed. Got fed up with it and tried out the Minimal Elite Dangerous Launcher instead, and it's much faster!

The IE issue should have been handled by MS/Windows. AFAIK, all calls to IE on current Windows installations are now rerouted to Edge and executed in an IE compatibility mode. No warnings here. The access to AWS is probably ED, as FD is hosting their servers on AWS.

Otherwise, that "updater doing nothing" issue is a known feature - during this period of "nothing happening", ED and Windows Defender are in a pitched battle about disk access (as evidenced by Task manager). Usually, this resolves after a while and ED can continue with the actual update.

They depreciated the IE application, not the underlying browser engine. Windows, even the most recent builds of 11, still has MSHTML.dll present and this is what the Frontier launcher calls. Edge in IE mode also still uses MSHTML.dll.
