Newcomer / Intro Launcher: Unhandled exception: 0x80072ee4

Hello everybody.

When I try to open the Launcher through Steam the error occurs:
Unhandled exception: 0x80072ee4

This occurs after a long time loading the Launcher and finally closing.

Already tried:

- Reinstall
- Disable services (firewall etc)
- Update all GPU drivers

I have more than 600 hours of play and nothing like this has ever happened before.

Does anyone have a clue what it could be?

Thanks!

try this repair tool

Make sure you have .NET Framework 4.5 installed.

If this fails remove these folders and restart the PC

C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WebCache
C:\Windows\Temp\WebCache

Thanks for the answer.

I work with .net framework 4.5, so I'm sure it's ok.
But I still ran Fix, restarted, deleted the folders mentioned and deleted some more. "Temp, Prefetch and all Frontier folders in appdata".

I also shut down all non-windows services and restarted.

I tried removing the steam account and re-linking it as well. I tried logging in without being associated too...

But.. same error =( any other ideas?

I'm starting to think that due to recent updates (even though I don't have the odyssey, just the horizon) it must be due to the GPU.
My GPU is very old, Nvidia 750TI, but I never had a problem playing elite dangerous with it.

In the hardware log, there is a failure at the end, but I don't know if it is due to this:
Bucket 2249640652327078978 failed, type 5Event Name: VSSetupResponse: Not available CAB ID

I believe that the problem is with the internet explorer cache, but even making all the changes the usage remains at 0mb.

The good news is that Minimal ED Launcher worked \o/, so I can at least... play! Thanks for the tip.

I will continue trying to configure Internet Explorer to save the cache.

Once I was using embedded browser for multiplatform app, on mac, it was using their Safari. And 1 user had installed system-wide "facebook plugin" which was crashing my app.
So my point is, you may have something installed system wide for IE which crashes launcher.
