[Launcher] Update beta while playing live

Hi FDev,

Often when beta is released we have to wait a long time for it to download, but during this time it's not possible to play the Live game. I think this is a very common use case and it would make a lot of players happy if it were possible to update beta while playing live. Please, FDev, update the launcher to make it possible to update beta while playing live :bigwidepuppydogeyes:

Sounds good if one has the bandwidth but with the launcher one only game running limitation implementing it might be an issue. For me while downloading the update I just browse the Forum checking the latest greatest (or not so great) posts. Next thing I know the game is ready to go.

While it's entirely a theory, you may be able to launch EDs own launcher, and download the beta update. Then launch ED via steam...?
If i recall, they use 2 separate launchers, so you may be able to get around it.


Semi-off topic, but I'd quite like it if downloading and launching Beta was available through Steam.

I know there are work arounds for achieving this, but isn't it annoying when you start the download without thinking! This little QoL improvement would go a long way, imho.

Good point on the bandwidth though, I would hope playing ED would have higher priority than the beta update download.
