Pretty much, yes. Mainly because there can often be more than one side to every story, no way for the named CMDR to defend themselves, or even know about the thread. Gossip, hearsay, etc.
All gets very messy. Even on a post with good intentions...
There's plenty of mentions about this out there in Elite forumland.
