enjoyed the first 40 minutes so far... This episode shows that you all have differing opinions which leads to good debates.. will be listening to the rest on my journeys today.

I do enjoy the show, but I get totally lost with who's speaking sometimes, thats just me... for a LOT of episode I thought Chris Jarvis was Allen Stroud... I'll sort it out my head is like a disco for random thoughts and its not best for voice recognition... ask me to come up with an idea for X or Y and I will alphabet your ass off with ideas... and maybe 1 will be the one. Though in my experience numbers and letters don't mix well... numberists! and vowelists!!

Allen does a great drunken/stoned pirate impression, maybe we should insist that he conducts all future podcast using that voice just to make it easier to identify him. :)

Allen was also not the only one to have played the X series ... I do mention I played it from time to time (sadly, this gets the same reaction on here as mentioning Elite does on their forums).

I loved the "adverts" ... now who gave you the idea for Lave Radio Big Brother? .... hmmm

I loved the look of the X Series and in fact bought a couple of them.
I just didn't play them. I found the ones i bought really difficult to get into.

Maybe we could look at doing a special feature on the Space Sim genre past and present to see what games kept us all going through the "dark years" without Elite?

We love all feedback and any community ideas are taken seriously. Any more crazy ideas? ;)

Lave's Got Talent?

I'm An Elite Commander, Get Me Out Of Here?

Robot Wars (the real reason there's no AI)?

:)

I loved the original X - BTF. I loved the name (Beyond The Frontier = Better Than Frontier). I loved the start of it and I loved the docking.

I never played the rest of them, although I have the Superbox in the house.

Primarily, though, playing emulated versions of original Elite, then moving to Oolite is what kept me going. As well as various different space-oriented design projects.

Ok so I've just listened to the final edit and thanks to the blooper reel feel its necessary to apologise to Matthew Benson for my inept attempts at introducing his newsletter Drabble !!

Listened to it last night. Enjoyed it as usual, good stuff. I'm with Allen on the 'multiple players on one ship issue. Can't see that it's going to add much to the game for a lot of work. We'll just have to wait and see.

Not so sure about the Big Brother bits - maybe you should apologise to all of us listeners for inflicting that on us?

I blame the listeners for suggesting the feature... ;)

Burn Cycle

Nice episode, full of useful info as usual

You discussed music. I know DB has said the score will be classical, but I thought he also said the Blue Danube etc would be included? You discussed whether classical would perhaps mean modern (spacey?) classical

One of the most spine tingling games I ever played was on a Phillips CDR called "Burn Cycle" It was an enthralling RPG with great puzzles and interesting images, but it was the music that made it. Pleasant but somehow kept you on the edge of your seat at the same time. Burn Cycle Theme

I posted this in the main thread about the Podcast in general but only just saw there is a thread for the actual episode itself.

As for futuristic classical music how about Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross?

They have already done a variation on Hall of the Mountain King for The Social Network - the score for which they got an Oscar. Their stuff for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo wasn't as easy to listen to, which was the point I feel.

Trent Reznor has always been into games and has collaborated with id Software so he knows his stuff.

How about Blue Danube played by Steve Vai?

LOL It was a listener request. We responded. Perhaps if you didn't like listening to the Chief of Ops bedroom habits or the Ents manager in the private booths you should take it up with the suggester... we just try to please... ;)

I didn't exactly suggest it http://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?p=101169
Big Brother Lave Radio ... Yes Folks! now you can listen to the boys sleep, go to the toilet, decide what channel to watch on TV or just mumble incoherantly to themselves.

All Lave Radio - All The Time !!! :D
I'm assuming it was because I said this ... I actually thought the Big Brother "adverts" were funny ... but then again, I am weird :D

Yes.....not a fan of the BB style ad in the last podcast but liked the second one with Fozza. Always wonder what will happen to him this time.

Great stuff as always.

Can't wait for the next ep of the Radio Drama. Alternating weeks is a great idea, one week we get LAVE Radio and the next we get the RAdio drama. :)

I also played X but got a little bored with the first one. I did also have X2 and X3. In fact I was trying to find the X Goldpack because I understand it does not have that nasty Starlock DRM on it I think it was called ? No luck finding it though, ebay have the occasional one sometimes).

Little bit of you and a little bit of Selezen. ;) I immediately put the first one together which everyone thought was very odd. Then the second one was a bit of a late night 'why not' let's see what samples we have...;)

The message was a bit 'be careful what you wish for' as a one off. I have another idea for my next set of stuff.
