LEAKED info on Thargoids

Hello everybody,

During the release of 2.2, FD had a stream with a bunch of speakers talking about the game and answering questions. At one point, one of the people at FD responsible for the lore of the game made a very interesting statement : when asked if he would date a thargoid, he said that it wouldn't be possible as his touch would literally burn a thargoid. He continued and said that we could handle their temperatures much better than they can handle ours. This could be a way to narrow our search regarding thargoid artifacts in colder parts of systems.

No, Michael Brookes was very specific.

Think Ammonia worlds. Colder, different chemistry.

Yup, this - Thargoids being associated with Ammonia worlds is nothing new, and if you've discovered a few Ammonia worlds, you'll know that they are always cold, and at the outer edges of the systems they are in.

Yeah ammonia worlds have been prime candidates since day dot. At the end of the day though, Frontier can crap on all they want about stuff being out there, but I think they're still going to manually hand sprinkle them around, and actual encounters are probably going to come with distant patches. Maybe more crashed ships and, later on, probe encounters, but they'll definitely be stretching the Thargoid thing as long as humanly possible since it happens to be the meat and potatoes of the game. So I'm not holding my breath.

I second this. Although, just for general info's sake, there are also Ammonia worlds in the inner reaches of certain systems. But I think it's much like having a terraforming candidate in first orbit of an A-class star. They happen, but they are exceedingly rare. And terraforming might not "take decades" (shameless movie quote) but rather a hundered years and more.
