Leaked passwords?

I just got a message in my browser that says that my password for Frontier site has been leaked. I only had that password here and just changed it, but I wanted you to know as maybe other passwords are compromised too.

What site were you visiting?

• I checked that site before... Nothing about this there.
• I wasn't visiting any site. Safari (Mac OS) has a feature that alerts you if a site/password is compromised and this morning that alert was in the front page of the browser.

That doesn't look useful. It says my email has been found in one data breach - Gravatar. When I go to Gravatar, there's no profile associated with my email address, I'm not on it. What gives?

It means there is a login/pw combination floating on the internet. People make bots that visit any list of website and try any known credentials to see if they can get access.

Yes, that's what the message said... I was so fast changing my password that I forgot to take a picture of the message. My fault.

It's a generic message, doesn't necessarily mean that FDEV leaked them, the creators of the function couldn't possibly determine that. The are many ways to steal passwords that don't require a leak from a site that stores them. I strongly suggest you change the password to any other sites you consider important though, if the password was obtained using a different method they may have also managed to get hold of your other passwords.

Yeah, an ISP's email server had a breach at least a decade ago, spilling credentials for all accounts on it, and to this day I still receive email threats bragging about knowing my old SMTP password from back then, and demanding ransom money to not wreak havoc with my computer.
