human or not, i its also not funny when some Npc type 9 bugs in the station entry, takes forever to die, and youre sitting in a type 7, cant fly out of the station because the entry isnt big enough and you run out of time..

I have yet to see an AI not be reckless and they obey the lights from what I noticed. Flashing Red seems to mean exit now, Flashing Green seems to mean enter and traffic is oncoming.

I had an npc get blown apart in the entrance at one station, not sure why. I just went to leave to find out the wreckage took up the entire entrance. Due to no shields I lost 40% hull integrity trying to squeeze out and almost failed the trespass timer.

It's because the lights don't actually mean anything. Some folks have decided that you enter on the green side but that's not a rule. Sucks when folks don't use the scanner and plow into others but FD has promoted smuggling in game. To do it you boost then shut everthing down....maybe the guy was doing that?

Ano's easy step by step guide to pain free docking

1: find the landing gear submenu in options and make sure it is switched on. This makes controlling your ship a simple up down right left forward backward operation and the thrusters only go as long as you push the button, when the landing gear is down. It takes a few seconds for it to come down.

2: Find the front of the station. On Dodo's, target the station and follow the arrows on the side of the hologram.

3: Get close to the entrance, but not directly in front of the slot in case of traffic. To the left, right, above or below is good.

4: Landing gear on. This will also stop you boosting into something.

5: using the up, down, etc, etc, thrusters, get in front of the slot.

6: Push on through to the other side. (Lyrics Morrison).

7: locate your dock with the circular indicator top left of your scanner feed.

8: move over to your docking spot and nudge yourself into landing.

This should be compulsory reading for all new pilots.

The red and green lights are there for a reason - it's to identify the orientation of the station so you can more easily identif which way your assigned docking pad is on.

NPC's and the docking computer always use the center of the lane for navigation.

I boost in and out of stations constantly. I have yet to hit another PC, I did smash into a NPC T7 that was just doing pirouettes in front of the toaster rack this morning though. That said, defensive flying is an important skill to have. People screaming in and out of ports is nothing new. I'm sorry for your loss, and while it sounds like it was the other pilots fault, we would all do well to remember that entering the starport is probably one of least predictable parts of the game.

Your compass will show you where your pad is once you enter the station.

And the collision mechanics are gnarly too, sometimes you can run into things and nary a scratch, othertimes a butterfly can fart near you and boom.

Esc, save and exit. You'll spawn outside the station on re-entry to the game.

LOL

Hilarious to think someone did this to you, he probably didn't mean it just thought he would be cool but ended in disaster.

human in a cobra going like a bat out of hell so maybe dodging a scan, hopefully hitting my T6 killed him too. anyway, solo play when trading from now on, that was too many hours to loose to a richard head.

Yes they do, they help you align with your pad. I made a post about this today - https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=88143

Yes it will, but also, if you keep red to your left, as you should, then each numbered pad is always the same direction from the entrance. You can come to know those directions quite well.
