I just spent the greater part of 2 weeks fast tracking myself in Power Play for the Empire. Got to Level 4 just before the Thursday "pay day." Did I get anything? Yes, 500K, a 50% reduction in merits, and ZERO improvement in my Rank. What was I expecting for the 15mil in credits spent and trudging for 2 weeks back and forth with Marked Arms? I was expecting 5 mil and some rank improvement. At least this would have pacified me.
Since I "normally" earn about a half mil an hour playing ED, when I started the PP series, I spent about 15 mil in cr. But the time lost to PP missions was about 6 days of 6 hours per day. 36 hours I didn't make money trading. That's roughly 18 mil cr in losses with a net differential of 33 mil I SHOULD have in my bank account. Not to mention I was destroyed by "enemies" twice costing me 2 Asp Explorer's fully kitted at about 980K to replace and the 112 in cargo (twice), and fines. Roughly I should have about 36 mil and be well on my way to an Anaconda. Instead? Yup, only 4 mil to my name and in my Asp. Screw this.
I've been a fan of this game since I played the original in the 80's. My favorite game in my whole life of gaming experiences. Imagine my shock, surprise and glee when I finally played this game in VR (vs what it was like in 84 on the C64). I wanted to believe in this experience. I feel like the developers have robbed me of my time, robbed me of my credits, and robbed me of earnings I would have earned had I not decided to try out PowerPlay. For a guy that took off time from work to fully emerge himself in this VR game there is some reality loss too. Consider how much my time is worth, what I didn't get done around the house, the workouts I didn't engage in etc. All for nothing. Now I'm just hurt by it. This may very well be my last post, my last gaming experience with ED, my last attempt to regain my interest and confidence of this franchise.
I have not played EVE, but it's worth a shot considering the experience I just had with Elite D.
