leaving the warm cozy bubble

Well after a friend was talking about just shooting out into space for a week and the fun he had. I was like hell ill get my python set up for "long jumping" i could only get it to 33ly. I might ahve been able to get it farther but i have spent so much time bating pirates i couldn't leave all of my guns. well now i am out some 3k ly out just going towards the galactic center. So i wonder is there anything i should go to other than just keep going in a line. i have truly spent hundred of hours only in the bubble it is warm and cozy and now im in the scary deep dark void.

/moved to exploration subforum.

33 ly is around the same jumprange of the first AspE i took to sag a* (pre engineering).

enjoy your trip, cmdr!

a non-engineered DBX will net you around 45 lys. My second account only has a DBX with minimal engineering, a level 5 FSD, level 3 DD, level 3 long range DSS and that's about all I could get done before heading out, I'm getting 52 lys out of it, could of pushed it to 55 if I would of changed to a 16t fuel tank. But it has no guns and plenty of heat sinks, if I happened to get in trouble, the 430 boost on it will keep trouble from getting close. Worst comes to worst, can go silent and boost forever without ever heating up. Don't need no guns on it, just using it for exploring. And a cheap ship at that.....

There's a lot to see out here, but you may need to travel some distance.

Things that you really need to know about:

1) Colonia. The little Bubble-away-from-the-Bubble. It's a long way out.
2) Deep space outposts. There are a string of ground bases leading out to Colonia, spaced every few Kylies (1000ly).
3) Asteroid bases. There are asteroid bases at various locations, including a couple that will be near to your current route.
4) Tourist beacons. There's a lot of tourist beacons around, usually placed at interesting sites.
5) Other waypoints. Not everything that's an unusual sight has a tourist beacon.

EDSM is an excellent resource for finding your way.

If you're on PC (or have one handy) then my map (link in my signature below) may be helpful to you.

Personally, I would have taken out an ASPX instead. Same size drive so you can quickly hot swap between ships.

Exploration is all about sight seeing, and you can't beat the view from the ASP. Very limited in the Python and Anaconda.
