Newcomer / Intro left handed poll is it worth it

Hi all as a relatively new user to the world of elite I was wondering if any of the lefties out there had done a poll to see if we could raise enough support for a left handed cockpit
as its quite a weird sensation having my stick in the wrong hand so to speak :)
maybe a kickstarter cash incentive might get the Hard working frontier team into catering for use unique individuals
just a thought
I didnt see a left handed poll in searches ..but maybe someone else has seen it ?
cheer
be careful out there

We sinistral super-beings probably should just stick with it as is and adapt  I'm not saying the idea doesn't have legs...er hands? but F-Dev probably have other aspects of the game they'd rather work on. After all, professional civil/military flyers do it for real...

I'm left handed but I don't see it as much of an issue. But I'm sure there's people out there "more left handed" then I am.

+1 for your screen name btw. :D

I'm left handed and have zero issues with a right handed stick and left handed throttle.

I've never seen a left handed flight stick and I don't think any manufacturers produce left handed systems, since you use both your hands anyway. Flight stick should be on the right. Throttle should be on the left. Flip them and it's just wrong.

I'm for it. Put it under graphics options. Left handed/Right handed. Switch and voila. I don't own a vive and I'm right handed but we need to try to preserve some immersion, considering VR is a huge selling point for some.

I am a leftie/righty person who grew up in an age where there were NO left handed people... everyone was right handed and you got your hand slammed with a ruler if you even picked up a pencil with your left hand. So Adapting to a right handed world was a no brainer even now I have trouble deciding which hand to throw a ball, bowl, use a hammer etc. so cockpit placement of a part is not even on my radar. My mouse is quite happy in my right hand with a right hand configuration. cheers.

If you're talking about a left handed joystick, there already is one that I know of, Thrustmaster T16000m. It can be both left and right just by switching some grips around. Players here use two of them, one in each hand to play Elite.

They're already using it left-handed, it's the graphics on the screen that don't match and it can be a little weird.

As regards the in-cockpit graphics - why not - we can already be represented as weird females with tramp-stamps all over their face, why not a left-handed version. ;)

As regards left-handed HOTAS systems - there are reversible joysticks and I am sure I read about a project for a right-hand throttle.

BTW - in the real world you have no choice - combat jockeys all have to use the left-hand throttle arrangement. :)

There are no polls permitted on these fora any more.

Me neither (I fly right-handed for some reason I've never been able to fathom) but:

There aren't many lefty sticks out there, but they do exist.

Yes please, I would actually pay money to have the HOTAS displayed correctly for us lefties, have learnt to live with it, but it feels very weird in VR seeing the opposite hand moving.

Logitech attack 3 is another great left handed stick, was my primary stick until the T1600M

Actually, why not? Stick in the options as a tick box. Shouldn't be a massive amount of work. And being all immersive and such I'm sure the ship builders would be able to do it no sweat. Works now for the worlds car makers with left/right hand drive. Being a lefty certainly brings up the quirks. Left handed but hold the knife and fork as a righty. Scissors usually right as it makes them work better. But spoons always with the left. Right eye dominant so learnt to shoot clays holding the shotgun to the right shoulder. But could only make the guitar work when held/strung the "wrong" way round...

Am left handed but have always played guitar right handed (thankfully) also use a knife and fork as a righty. I doubt it would take much work to implement left handed cmdr chairs, it's not like each ship is unique, there are only two types of chairs in the game, standard and imperial.

Lefty here. I've been using ambidextrous or left-handed joysticks for decades and there's no way I'm stopping now. Currently using Dual T16000M's with the left stick as the primary, right for vertical and lateral thrust, and rudder pedals for forward thrust (toe brakes for FA-toggle and boost). I also use the Vive, and I would LOVE to have it as an option. Heck, I would even take the reversed HOTAS model, but ideally I wish I could have my dual joystick represented on the in-game models.

The nuns taught me at a young age the value of being ambidextrous. Evidently the devil is left handed.

They're already using it left-handed, it's the graphics on the screen that don't match and it can be a little weird.

Have you ever driven abroad? Some countries have RH drive and others LH drive. Helicopter pilots sit on the RHS and fixed wing pilots on the other side. Flexibility is required in the game as in life.

Sinister ;)
