Newcomer / Intro left my game open then it crashed to desktop

i had my game open with the galaxy map "buffering" all the potential routes down to NU system, so that i can finally sell something instead of getting the buyback insurance money for my hauler.

couple of hours later, i come back into my room being absent talking with someone, and i find that the game has crashed, now i've sent a crash report via the launcher and i've also sent hardware survey while logged in. then i found out i wanted to do a verify game files, the launcher kept repeatedly windowing me with "unhandled exception, something isnt connected to something", and trust me, it's not my internet which is a 50\50 fiber optics with direct 12ms to nearest base on the border out of my country so i hardly believe that i had a "lagg".

so anyway, i had the galaxy map open to buffer for routes, and even with high end system like ", core i7 4930k, asus radeon hd 3gb, 24 gb 1866mhz, asus rampage IV extreme, ssd on the gaming and for OS," and i havent had a virus threat basically since i built this thing, couple of bsods cause of bad firmware for the ssd's didnt like the new samsung magician and some other bad coded games i bought.

are the surveys being looked at? what if i went to sleep to let it buffer (i know the galaxy is pretty big, but this is a computer game, its not real life) and then wake up to see everything loaded into memory and working flawlessly.

back to the launcher, if i can't verify the game files to check make sure it is not the install bugging out, what can i do then? reinstall is overheard of, of this fine example of a game which i dearly find to my liking.

but the launcher has to stop, what if it suddenly downloads a dropper like that one time i wanted to download GOM player to watch some movies on downloaded an entirely different kinda scary but real death threat onto the desktop background on my system?!? i wish i had 1MILL to make this work for all parties, but i dont. and maintenance is needed.

btw, how many concurrent users is there, and servers, is this globally playable, and why the server restart every 2 days, fix npc's occupying USS's for missions, make bases not nuke you out of orbit if you scratch their precious metal antennas in the bay doorway cause thats when the warning started and not when i entered the base, more missions, elaborate exploration, add in missions differently, primary 3 goals, long set goals\missions\story 40+ hours, see high and low cost in trade market button, market missions, ship missions.

why the crash and errors on the launcher?!?

there is 3 different crashes here. 1. launcher. 2. hitting the antennas on my way in a base to land, causing the entire base to shoot me. 3. galaxy map open to buffer into memory, then ctd.

The ramble in the OP states you had the galaxy map open, then went away for a few hours came back to see the game had crashed. Nothing about getting shot to death by the station. You left the machine running for a couple of hours, unattended, there's no way to know what happened. However, as an aside, the Galaxy Map for me, takes no more than a minute or so to plot out a 80 odd light year route from say, Diso to Eme.

I am also particularly fond of:

i havent had a virus threat basically since i built this thing, couple of bsods cause of bad firmware for the ssd's didnt like the new samsung magician and some other bad coded games i bought. ...

so just a couple of BSOD due to some bad coded games, etc, downloading a 'real death threat' instead of some pirated movie?

I suggest you flatten the machine and start from scratch. Better yet, take off and nuke it from orbit, it's the only way to be sure.

i was at a station when the game crashed when i was in galaxy map...

real death threat = the whole background was 1's and 0's + the middle of it said something about family.

suggest all you want. if you can't take my initial post seriously in this thread youre pretty much dumber than the 2 movies that came out.

Ticket it though. However, since English is obviously not your native language, you might want to make your post first in the sub-forum for your language (if exists) just to get some better feedback and suggestions.

I have had the same problem. Loaded the game and did one run between two systems. Left the ship still on the pad while I went to make a coffee and came back to a crash report window. I thought at first that the servers had gone down and it had kicked me out until I saw the crash report. Reloaded and played for a couple of hours with no problems so it must have been a random CTD.

Crash report was sent so, presumably it will highlight the problem.

I am experiencing random crash to desktop cases to. It seems to be related to the recent 'new launcher' update. Have opened ticket and submitted crash report. Can barely play for 5 to 10 minutes without a CTD.

I suggest you lay off trying to download copyrighted material. It sounds like your issue could be something malware related and nothing to do with the game.

As you were away from the computer so long there is every chance the crash had nothing to do with Elite. I highly doubt the launcher is going to download anything dubious but I since Steam has an option to verify your downloaded files I suppose it isn't an unreasonable request. You'd have to put it to FD.
