[Lego] Medium railgun (for use in the UCS Lego Asp Scout)

Needed a fun mini project for today:

Next job will be integrating it into the UCS Asp Scout....

I have- however this build I'm doing is so complex I'd die trying to make instructions for it :D

I remember seeing the size of the skeleton you had, so I understand that! I just thought of it and have been meaning to tell you about it, in case you were unaware (low chance considering your Lego love!). The rail looks awesome btw mate.

That looks amazing mate!

Thanks! Its on its fifth rebuild so far, the lower deck is finished (although you'll never really get to see it since you can only see it from the cockpit or the rear ramp), lower small hardpoints retract and deploy (better than FD actually, as the hardpoint doors clip through the model), I had to give up on retractable landing gear (the weight was too much), and I have to cut down on interior detail I'll never see :D

Here is it mounted on the ship:
That's fantastic work, mate. (y)
It's a tricky ship with a load of Lego-unfriendly angles but you've managed to capture it really well - landing gear looks good on the wheel rims too.
Just out of interest, why did you choose the asp scout - Is it a favorite ship or did you pick up a piece and think 'that looks like a bit of an asp scout in Lego!'?

Excellent work.

Cheers! I chose the Asp Scout because its A) the most ignored ship (which makes it instantly 'cool'), B) I like the Asp Scouts shape (its a lot closer to the concept art than the Explorer- its more sleek). The shape is horribly unLego too :D I like a challenge.

It's certainly not got Lego friendly right angles on the skin!! Have you resorted to any need for glue yet? Not asking as I think it's a copout to use the Kragle, just because I imagine it gets beefy in places!?

No, no glue. What I do have though is an unholy mix of old and new technic lego, old and new regular lego and some Voodoo like brick uses. The problems I have is that old lego does not mix well with newer brick designs, and that new lego is really....bendy :(

Good stuff on the lack of glue mate. I guess it's different when they go change things around, but you gotta use what you have right?!
