- Tie it into assassination missions, go to a system find out your target in X base, dock, hunt them down.
- Those old generation ships have the data logs. You have to Eva and find a way inside to retrieve it.
- The game starts you without a ship and you have to crew other cmdrs ships (npc or players) to start your career.
- Ship repairs mid flight, would work like afmu but takes longer + some parts can randomly fail like in DCS
- FSS is not accessed from the pilots seat you have to go to that terminal to use it.
Interesting. Making a full FPS would be hard for 1 and 2, though. That, and it would be an
incredible amount of work and polygons to walk in stations and megaships. Probably even worse than when WoW allowed flying in Azeroth, for instance. And that kind of mega rebuilding effort, for minimal payout.
But- instanced walking around in player-owned carriers would be all new, potential multiplayer interaction, and not require rebuilding old stuff!
3 would not be optimal probably. That's screwing HARD with new player experience, and MOST people don't like to be beholden to others.
4 would be awesome- optional, useful, no twitch reflexes, you get to explore your ship, all wins. For ships that are bigger than a coffin, anyway. Sidewinder tiny.
5? Meh. Annoying.
Walking around to explore would be TERRIBLE, give me skimmers instead, plz.
