Hi everyone! It's been a while, but I'm back with a new adventure ahead
After spending a good 5 years developing Adventure Kingdom, I finally took the decision to step away and embark on a new challenge, this time creating a park fully focused on storytelling - specifically myths and legends (you can tell I love Efteling in the Netherlands)...so Legyndor was born!
The past couple of weeks or so have been spent developing the park entrance areas. The entrance plaza is still pending further details, featuring two themed ticket buildings and a very nice looking park logo (definitely my best use of signage so far). Here I went for a sort of archaeological vibe going on for the entrance plaza...but the main reason for the rushed look is due to what lies beyond the gates...
Entering the park, you find yourself transported to a tropical/Mediterranean paradise. Welcome to Mythos Port! I'd always dreamt of building a really warm, colourful and overall welcoming looking area, so Port Laguna at Toverland was a very suitable source of inspiration.
The first thing you undoubtedly see upon entry is the lighthouse. Standing tall at roughly 25 metres, this is a build I'm particularly proud of, having experienced a lot of trial and error during its construction as I just wanted it to look right rather than weird looking, so many different details were played around with before I settled on the final appearance.
So far in way of facilities, Mythos Port is currently home to a restaurant (The Fabled Flame - presumably a tavern) and a nicely detailed gift shop (Mystic Emporium).
Some more shots of the area. This includes a high-angle shot for scale, and also how the area looks at night. Sunset seems to fit Mythos Port perfectly!
For the lagoon shown in the high-angle shot, I made the bed of the lagoon using blue smooth concrete slabs to really make the lagoon appear that much more rich.
And to finish up this very brief introduction to what may be a large park (though I'm hoping it won't reach the size of Adventure Kingdom), here's a sneak peek of the first chapter of this story.
While very much a work in progress, Alcides Pass will be where ancient Greek myths and legends come to life. For now I've started off with some traditional, modern Greek buildings (featuring my first successful attempt at domes - kudos to Silvarret for his Planet Coaster College episode on domes). The idea for Alcides Pass is that it's pretty much a modern Greek village...however, increasing archaeological discoveries in the area are slowly revealing this land's ancient secrets...
Hope you like what you see! More updates will follow so watch this space
