If anyone is interested B&H photo has the Lenovo mixed reality headset on sale for $99 (without motion controllers). I've already got a rift, but for $99 figured what the hell and went ahead and ordered. The bump in resolution should look nice and no more moving my rift back and forth between my Elite cockpit setup and my other computer for playing stand up room scale games.

Keep checking and they might pop back in stock. They had originally sold out the day before I ordered but I saw a post on a forum saying they were back in stock, hopped on and got one. Even if out of stock you can order at the sale price, just have to wait a week or two. At this price it might be worth it just for elite.
Got my headset yesterday and after a PITA install got it up and running. Overall I must say that I'm impressed, especially relative to the price. The bump in resolution isnt spectacular, but it definitely makes text MUCH more readable. I no longer find myself leaning in to get closer to text to read. Tracking has been spot on, in some ways better than my rift. Screen door effect is slightly less noticeable as are the godrays. The overall fit and comfort are slightly better than the rift overall (feels lighter), but the nose piece isnt as comfortable as the rift. The only real downside I've found compared to my rift is the sweet spot is much smaller. Looking directly ahead everything is nice and clear, but as soon as you look slightly off center things get blurry real quick. The colors on the LCD arent quiet as good as the rift either, but the difference isnt anywhere near as extreme as I was expecting the OLED vs LCD difference to be. Considering it was only $99 I feel it was a great buy. While it wont let me retire my rift completely its more than good enough for Elite and will let me leave my rift attached to my other pc where I do the room scale games.
