LCS Orca 5 Impulse Attack Evaded

LCS Orca 5 Impulse Attack Evaded

LCS Orca 5 has successfully evaded the first pirate interdiction of the voyage. The attack, which came in just the third jump on the journey to Waypoint 1, pulled "Show Me The Way To Go" out of hyperdrive. Immediately the ship was fired on, and the crew heard "Impulse Attack" announced over the tannoy.

"The point defence system worked first time out of the box", said CMDR Booster Woods. "The aggressor ship fired a volley of torpedoes and we could see the tell-tale signs of green laser fire from the bridge". The ship has been fitted with engine upgrades, giving it a top speed of 359 m/s. The astounding speed was more than enough to keep the crew and her passengers safe. Once the FSD had spooled up, the green Orca was able to jump to the next system without a single shot having made its target. LCS special engineer Felicity Farseer said simply, "It's what I make 'em for".

After this early excitement in the trip, the passengers were treated to several gas giants, including some brown stripy ones with water based life. The trip to the Barnacle site on Merope 5c, site of the next CNE basecamp, continues tomorrow.

Note: One passenger had to be birched (* well, covered in jam and paraded through the cabaret bar first) for filching some of the Cmdrs stash of OH and 2 whole Donner Kebabs.
(* The passenger in question paid for this option before boarding !)

Do you have news items to share? Post your text in this forum and we will turn it into a broadcast!

CMDR John 'Smooth' Shibregro informs us that 'Les Couches Spatiales' is the French translation of Space Pampers™ , the well known friend of space-faring explorers.

After all, jumping into a contact binary or trinary system is likely on occasion to invoke the fight or flight response - and there isn't much room to fight a massive star in the tight confines of an Asp.

Space Pampers ™ mean you can face 'All Your Close Encounter Needs' without fear of embarrassment when you debark at the next Space Port.

LCS is a division of the Space Pampers ™ parent company and is currently expanding into many areas of space life. The most recent example is the Crab Nebula Expedition, where LCS has launched a felt or Orcas (Nick-named Splorcas), to provide luxury tours for the more discerning (rich) clientelle.

Passengers on LCS Orca 4 enjoyed a glass of champagne and a cocktail sausage whilst taking in the vistas at HD 36219 3.

Mrs Cordelia McBoatFace commented
"Could I have a slightly larger sausage please?"

Whilst the Elvis impersonators said
"A little less conversation, a little more action"

Following the request for more action from the Elvis impersonators, CMDR Donkey Hote performed a near fly by of a ringed water world, and graphically reminded his passengers of the dangers of these sort of manoeuvres with the discovery of the remains of a tour ship (from a less reputable tour firm).

Undeterred, the fly-by was completed safely and skillfully and the afternoon was rounded off with a crater top stopover with stunning views of Barnards loop.

The Elvis impersonators commented, in unison:
"The walls have ears, better think before you throw that shoe"

++LCS Orca 4 Breaking news++

Passengers on LCS Orca 4 were treated to an unexpected Trip today, following an incident involving Acid in the air-conditioning.

Boaty McBoatface commented:
"It reminded me of a visit with David Attenborough to a remote tribe in Borneo, the indigenous certainly knew how to ferment monkey faeces"

The Elvis impersonators meanwhile quipped:
"Blacko-oxy-tonic phosphate, it's the latest scoop. But that's alright girls, you can call it goop."

LCS Orca 1

Guests sedated, ship quiet, Elephant relaxing in mud wrestling pool. All in all the ship had a good saturday night in deep space(d out).

Oh, and here are some pics of WP 3 and the surrounding area.

(If anyone has the Cmdrs leg, please leave it where it can be found easily. No further action will be taken if it is returned unsullied and in working order. Until then we will only be turning right.)

Crew Announcement - Press Release

As per Michael's request, please see the following draft press release:

Les Couches Spatiales Tours is the first luxury travel company to exploit the much maligned Orca. Famed for being the ship that could always be beaten into second place for any role, LCS chose the Orca for her elegant looks and excellent all around viewing positions. "Our passengers pay top prices and they expect first class facilities" commented LCS's CEO CMDR Donkey Hote.

LCS Tours is jointly owned and crewed by 6 veterans of the 3302 Distant Worlds Expedition. "Following the DWE, we were looking for a new venture, and to share our love of exploration and discovery with those not able to take the Conn personally", said CMDR John Shibregro, who earned the nickname 'Smooth' after his famous smooth landings. "The Orca was the obvious choice, and with some excellent work from Engineer Felicity Farseer, we have been able to produce ships able to out run all but the most persistent pirates". We also have tactical support from CMDR Gertymoon in his Asp, 'The White Star'.

The LCS Fleet is currently taking passengers on their maiden voyage as part of the Crab Nebula Expedition. "Our philosophy is to provide our passengers with a variety of experiences. So far on the CNE we have thrilled them with the sights of Barnard's Ring, The Witchhead Nebula, The Running Man Nebula and treated them to the spectacle of Beteleguese. They have also experienced the thrill of a fleet canyon flight where the Orcas were put through their surface speed paces. We're grateful that health and safety concerns are covered by the hefty insurance our passengers are able to afford", commented CMDR 'Booster' Woods. "Still to come we have the rest of the fantastic sights on the expedition as well as one or two Formation Flying events". The LCS pilots took part in the first multi ship formation fly past at Darwin's Legacy at Beagle Point. A small but historic flight on the 2nd April 3302, just days before the larger DWE Fleet Fly Past.

LCS have been thrilled by the latest announcements of organised passenger services throughout inhabited space and Saud Kruger's announcement of two new ships, The Beluga and The Dolphin. "We welcome new competition to the market in the knowledge that we are already setting the bar pretty high in terms of the luxury tourist market", said CMDR NCC71201, "and we just can't wait to find out the specs of these two new designs - we are sure our passengers will love them too".
