Less Restriction with Water Levels

Please can we have it so we can put the water level up to the bottom of the kerb on the path? Or at least to the bottom of the concrete support under the path?

I just spent about 3 hours designing a hotel with underwater views into the crocs and hippos habitat (depending which side of the hotel you're on), with a scenic walkway into the hotel through the exhibits. Only to find you can't put the water right up to the path. It's limited to two 'levels' below the path. I was expecting a little bit of a gap of course. But with that much room left inbetween, I have to either settle with half underwater room views or raise the path and redisign the hotel entrance.

Also, why is the water limited to preset levels? Why can't I raise or lower the water levels to whatever the current ground level is?

I don't think I have to explain why the distance needed between paths and water is restrictive.

The water levels are annoying when you have a exact water level planned like op or especially when you work with blueprints from the workshop or other zoos.

It works fine if you know what you are doing

You can work around it but it's still a flaw. A 0.5m water level interval would be much more forgiving

It's working exactly as intended, so I don't see why it's a flaw.

It's a decision they made, which already is a improvement compared to water in Planet Coaster.

I would also like small steps in the water levels.

I often need an in-between thing from the water levels and can then choose between a small puddle or nothing at all.

Frontier always thought big:
Large brushes and shapes to design the area, large walls, wide paths, large signs, large decorations.

There are hardly any small and filigree things.

But I hope this will be one of the many changes that Frontier will bring to the game in the coming months. After all, the game has already improved in some points.

I love that the animals never get old so quickly now!

I think it's a decision based on the engine limitations. They also struggle with getting diving/underwater swimming right.
(my own guess, not in anway a fact)

I repeated PK a few times but this is their approach:

Personally i think that option would be great for PZ, :D

Not sure why my previous comment got removed... But here it is again. With being able to adjust all the other levels, it doesn't really make sense to not be able to adjust the water level differently. The grid you can change to 4m, 2m, 1m, and freeform. Terraforming and Paths are freeform. But then the water isn't... I realize it's probably easier to snap it to a specific height, but it would be nice if you could change the height by holding shift like most other things in PZ. But I'd be happy with the .5 or even 1m option too.

Zoo Tycoon had it this way as well. But then you could still terraform under the water once it was placed...

The water tool in general is a pain to work with and definitely needs an overhaul...I'm actually looking at the WLP2 water mechanics when I think about PZ and those would work really well, too. It's pretty much the same process: dig hole, place pump that fills in the water (click to fill it) and here comes the major difference in WLP2 you can still terraform and edit the water once it's in, the water level and surface simply goes with it and adjusts accordingly, no stupid obstructed message when there are still animals in it or whenever you try to build something close to it either, you can even build real water falls...

Sometimes I just don't get how games that are 10+ years old can get it done right and yet the developers of a game made in the last two years or so tell me it's not possible to get it to work, that just doesn't seem right :/
