So after several runs in my trusty hauler, I finally scraped enough credits together to get that shiny new Viper. Got a sweet deal on it too.. which left me with just enough credits to mount a couple of beefy C4 blasters on her. Running extremely low on credits, I decided to take a long cargo delivery job to help me start building my credits up again.. half way to my destination, I get jumped by two Cobras! Normally , seeing two Cobras pop on my radar and demanding that I drop my Cargo , I would immediately hit the boosters and release flight assist until I got enough separation to jump.. but this time..given my new Viper, and confidence, I thought, why not, I will take these clowns down! So, I wait a few seconds to see if either are launching missiles , then finally turn to take down the first. I get on his six pretty quick (this beast turns like a dream and has speed to spare) and with my new C4 blasters, make short work of his shields shortly followed by a nice fiery explosion! The second one seems to have a little more experience proving more difficult to get behind. Just when I think I have him, he hits his boosters and gets range.. After a few passes, I finally get my beams on him and take down his shields, just before he boosts again.. At this point, I'm getting anxious and quickly boost towards him.. As I approach , licking my chops in anticipation of another fireball , I notice he is turned towards me and closing fast.. With boosters engaged, I'm not slowing quick enough to maneuver , pull back on the stick as hard as I can.. there is just no way to avoid the son of a b***tch!! :eek: I do get to see the fireball.. but unfortunately, my shiny new Viper is no more... :( To add insult to injury , I didn't have enough to pay out the insurance (only about 4k credits remained ) So , now.. here I sit.. back at Azeban City.. in my old friend, the sidewinder. Note to self.. next time.. Leave enough to pay insurance!!

Feel for you. Mine was much more stupid than that. Got myself a lovely Cobra... set it up with four multi-cannons etc etc etc but was running freight.

Got what looked like a good deal so I thought.. s** it.. I'll take the risk of leaving myself with not enough to replace.. it's a short run... nothing bad can happen.

So I get to my first drop off... and some Commander says 'hello' on hail. As I have not spoken to anyone in game I thought I should be social and pressed COMPLETELY the wrong button and fired my cannons straight into the station.

This made the station mad but I managed to slope off and figured I'd pay my bounty at the nearest station then come back.

So I figure that I have to give it proper beans going into the next station to avoid scans on my wanted status, land successfully and clear the bounty and crack on.

So I give it full beans.. totally misjudge entering the slot and slam into the side of the station. Back to 3k and a sidewinder. My mate on Skype was laughing his head off.

Yesterday, after trading in my Hauler for the last couple of days, I finally had enough money to buy myself a shiny new Cobra with Pulse Lasers and Missile Launchers. The engine sound alone made me feel invincible :)
So off I go looking for a bit of trouble to the first unidentified signal in SC. Waiting for me there was a wanted Anaconda that almost instantly opened fire and turned me and my Cobra into space dust before I had a chance to escape :eek:
I had just enough money left in my pockets to pay the insurance for the ship and weapons leaving me with less than 400 Credits.
Lesson learned :)
