Lesson learned after and during reson event (station attack and rescue)

This is not a rant, more an observation.

The whole event was/is great, still doing the mission and it's great fun. (bugs not too bad, nothing game breaking)

ATC mechanics, I've said it before, I will now repeat it again!
We need a better ATC mechanic, more like what you will see in FSX or other flight SIM.

Queuing system! until now most people are self regulating however this need to be addressed.
FDEV please start to look into it, all CG's would be much more fun if there was a proper queuing system around systems and bases.
When you ask permission to dock, I do not want to hear docking denied!! I get that message at home all the time (that was a joke mekay).

No what I want to hear is request received, please go to holding pattern area X, we will inform you when a landing pad is available.

Background mechanics line the ships up in a queue system and take from the pool and give permission to dock accordingly.

Because if you don't make a good system you get this!!!

reason not reson, damn ipad and i'm just too fast .... :D

Queue system would be nice. I suspect it might be hard to pull off in ED. But maybe that's someone can ask a dev in next QA/stream.

nope pretty easy actually, you don't need to add a holding pattern area, just make the quing pool and issue approval from that pool.
Should not be that difficult. Docking denied should only be if you're wanted in that system.

Depends how network status of station gets synced.

Also trolling - take a queue number and make everyone wait for your timeout, never docking.

edit: although it can happen now too

I say no to Traffic Control queuing .... part of the excitement of the stations under attack is the spontaneity of individual commanders controlling each other ..... "Beluga going in now" ..... "Cutter leaving pad" ..... "make way for me ! .........." crunch :)

you can still do that, what you don't need to do, is pressing request docking constantly to get access.

until now no one can dock before the get permission, what this removes is the "oh yeah, i need to spam the request docking button to get in!"

Lower the timer, no one need 10 minutes to dock.

Been asking for a real queue and traffic/congestion dependent pad reservation system since the first week I started playing...which was one-hundred and sixty-five weeks ago? Every time I bring it up, half the people that see my posts tell me to switch to Solo, like it's somehow unreasonable for a starport to not give them exclusive access for as long as they care to have it.

My guess is that it's not high on their priority list, just like most things that can be 'fixed' by the universal 'just switch to Solo to do everything' workaround.

in fact, I already made this suggestion of waiting list a good time ago.

there may be another solution, if possible or complementary, use in many other games.. instantiate the most attractive areas.

instance of 5-6 players for example .. when the instance is full another instance is created to welcome the following.

so we can not all see each other, but the problem is solved.

Much easier to make a good ATC que mechanic. Every flight sim out there has it, they make it because it’s a part of flying, secondly because it make the whole expirence Like in the real world.

realistic yes, but when a waiting list exceeds thirty person.. I believe myself in a supermarket,

i still prefer it to be a little less realistic personally.
