Let me get this straight: if you’re a wanted criminal you can’t access the black market?

It’s a market for illegal goods , why can’t you access it?

Hell, it should be the only market you can access if you’re a criminal, whether unintentional or you’re a career criminal.

And while you’re at reading this, please get rid of the rep lock which has sneaked in again for rescuing people from burning stations!

Totally agree.

There's a lot of little things like that this with the new C&P that could/will? be polished up. The sanctioned black market has never really seemed dodgy enough.

Black Markets are Faction related. Meaning, as a station's controlling faction changes, so does the availability of the Black Market. This indicates a connection between the two. I can see a Black Marketeer not wanting to rile up the controlling faction by serving a Commander wanted by them.

Fortunately, there are many more Black Markets around.

Makes perfect sense. If the heat is on you, the last thing organised crime want is for the criminal underworld to become exposed.

Agree with OP. Also, in the run-up to beyond and the focused feedback forums I could've sworn that the devs also agreed that this should be how it works, and *would* be how it works?

If you are wanted, the security will be following you around. Not good for business. STAY AWAY from our secret Black Market.

If you can sneak in using Space Legs with camouflage and fake id signature. Then yes, you can come.

I don't get it either.
Criminals should at least have full access to black markets in pirate stations.

Interesting idea?

This gives me an interesting idea. What if the Black Market required a certain level of notoriety to access. I.e. at notoriety level 1 you could access black markets in monarchy systems at level 2 can access black markets in corperate systems and so on. Then at high notoriety you could purchase goods on the black market.

The only place to sell 'illegal' cargo for clean commanders would be anarchy systems.

I much preferred the black markets in Elite II:

It makes so much more sense that they would appear as fly-by-night trading companies on a bulletin board. Plus there was a risk that they could be a sting operation, which was cool. Even better would be if there was some gameplay in finding out which fences you could trust and which were cops at a particular station or system. Perhaps the information could be given as a mission reward.

But I digress - although some of the responses above do make sense, I'm with the OP on this. Criminals should be able to do criminal things.

It's good to see the NPC faces have improved in the next version of ED...!

.... Oh wait...
