Just read again the topic. Think about everything that will change and improve. Ye we have BGS that lazily make factions colonize new worlds. But! Why won't let players directly change the face of galaxy? As example everyone can register a new minor faction (we have a lot of them, 1 more per system won't matter). Than we will complete missions to help our factions develop: look for supplies, convence people from another factions to join (think it should be just a number of followers), than when we will have enough followers we can start to build a settlement in an epty system (or maybe, not empty to let us compete other factions for leadership). Building of something will be uneasy- many materials and credits, the bigger structure the more we'll need. And so on, growing in many systems, defeating AI factions etc. Read strategy! Also i see it as everyone can try to create a faction but to make it prosper and expand, many players should be involved in completing missions etc. That factions in all other things will act just like other ones but let players choose what to do next. Also they won't be creator-bind and their further destiny will depend on how player community will support and like them. I think it will be an explosion of new factions in the beginning but much of them will soon dissolve. There are concerns about limitation and UI setting (spoiler with search?) to make UI clean of 100500 factions. Also, you can just not display factions without certain level of progress. I would be happy thinking about it with others, because it's really ambitious and cool idea imho
