Let Players Really Change the Galaxy

Suggestion: let players form factions or join NPC factions, influence the political power of said factions, and reap economic rewards of the resulting political power.

Actions that result in ongoing economic rewards (eg. controlling stations or systems) should be a massive undertaking, not an "easy button" for making money.

It will give PvP players something meaningful to fight over. Right now, a few scraps of cargo, or one's own sense of pride are the only goals in game worth fighting other players over.

It will also give players something other than the next biggest ship for which to save their credits.

Already declined by the devs. This is a lone wolf space pilot game, not EVE online.
That's too bad. I'm going to look for the quote myself, but if anyone else has it handy in the mean time, I'd love to see it.

Clearly this isn't a "lone wolf space pilot game", though it can be played that way. But so can EVE, most of the time, if you so choose.

***Edit: looking through Michael's posts with the search tools on this forum...not so great. But then I looked at the Wiki and found a page with lots of details about future plans with quotes from interviews.

Essentially he's saying this game is about being a pilot, not a "lone wolf", as seems to be repeated by players in this type of thread. The nature of the game is doing everything yourself in a hands on kind of way, which is not the same as by yourself. So from that point of view, yes it makes sense to prevent players from owning anything more than their ship. Telling players this is a "lone wolf game": not so much.
