Let SLF Fighter Bay double as Dropship module for Odyssey and Horizons.

How difficult is it to enable the Fighter bay to work with deployed landing gear.?
Land with a deployed Fighter Bay (blocks fighter deployment while landed) and SRV and Foot soldiers can get on. Close the Bay, if of-planet or longer transport is needed.
Otherwise this opens op easy relocation of troops.
Whether a SLF can deploy while troops are onboard is up for debate.
I think it should be able to.
 
or you could deploy troops from the platform.
or Cmdrs scoot up with jet-packs and land on platform
or they could jump of a roof
or you could carefully lower ship in front of a fleeing Cmdr
 
Not sure what you mean about the landing gear, but we are not allowed to deploy a Fighter whenever our ship is lower than 2.0km from planet surface.
 
Ok, the SRV can fit under your ship and can only be deployed once your ship has already landed.

The Fighter bay is way bigger than the SRV bay in order to accomodate a Fighter.
 
Maybe the mechanic would work something like
Deploy landing gear then initiate fighter launch sequence. This command sequence spawns the troops on the lowered platform. Retract landing gear, retracts both landing gear and platform. You have to retract landing gear to launch a fighter. In other words you have to clear the platform before launching a fighter. Initiate fighter launch alone, launches the fighter. Leaving the platform and landing gear down should enable the troops to respawn on the platform.

You do see the "platform" or the bay hatch when a fighter is launched.
You are so right on all your points.
But standing on the edge of the platform with your jetpack on the back 1 km above a base would you wait for the ship to land?

The SRV could be clamped down when spawned on the platform. Clamps that only unleash when ship speed is below 10 m/s? and altitude below 5,10,15,20 m?

It would make the Crusader a formidable base attack ship.
2 crew in the cockpit, SRV and Fighter
6 Odyssey Cmdr's in the double function Fighter bay.

Heck lets make this module. A new Fighter bay that can hold 2 SRV's and less Fighters than the dedicated Fighter Bay. And lets make it expensive reel expensive. No lets make it a quadruple engineered module only available at a 2 hour surprise CG at Jaques station announced 20 min prior to its start. Although you could get an invite 7 days in advance if you: Dismiss, reject and protest the very conceivement of this idea NOW!

+1 for dropship module and missions to ferry troops.
I'd do it a couple of times just to try it.
Like rescuing folks from burning space stations, it might interest a chunk of players and could be a way to get involved in FPS combat zones to work on BGS without doing FPS. Even better if you could use it for multi-crew and drop your squadmates.
