CQC Let us know your thoughts on CQC in here

It would've been cool if FD had a CQC server up and running during the 2.1 server update. This way people could've actually given CQC a chance. I think FD missed an opportunity there tbh.

1) Community-based movements. While FD will undoubtedly do all they can with the Tournament etc., this I expect the players to lead from the front. The more player communities that organise semi-formal events, say a weekly get-together in CQC, the more likely it is going to continue popularity. This is purely wishful thinking, of course, and it wil undoubtedly be improved by, and synergise with, the other methods of action below.

Without private matchmaking, this is very difficult to do.

Once we can set up our own matches, all sorts of meetups / tournaments / ladders / training sessions become possible.

I'll say this: you're doing extremely well in CQC from our encounters so far - better than many veteran players I've come up against. Much respect for you and keep going at it. :)

Hehe, thanks. :) Will do.

At one time I could have sworn you were hunting me in all games. lol

Where have all the CMDRs gone?

Explorers can only get their combat fix from CQC because we are usually out deep, away from the bubble and any other CMDRS or even NPCs. The only way we can get our pew pew on is to log into the CQC Arena.
...and then we wait for a damn game to finally happen (several nights of being queued up for hours, just to turn it off in disappointment is not unheard of)

There are Several minor things I do not like about CQC game play, but it does not take away from the fact that CQC is still absolute loads of fun to play. It's like call of duty with spaceships, or as my friends and I call it, "Rounds". Immediate fun, if you can find a match.

Problem is, most CMDRs seem to forget it even exists. I know for a fact Frontier sells CQC Arena as a stand-alone product, so how is there not a constant series of matches going on at any given time? I would love to see some metrics on this, like "How many people are logged in to CQC at any time". Maybe advertise it better? Maybe fix the slew of problems with it? I would totally help for free! I'm an old handicapped guy who doesn't move around much, anymore. Elite: Dangerous is my actual hobby (I built a cockpit). So you can picture my frustration as an explorer who would like to get some pew pew going.

To do my part in helping myself and others in finding a game, here's me:
on PC /// CMDR wwwSCOOBYLEWcom (UTC-5) on damn near every night around 19:00-23:00, live streaming via https://www.twitch.tv/wwwscoobylewcom
1/2 way through second prestige, bring it you young punks! Example of what you gotta beat: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gt_W9oKoWTg

My preferred game style is Team Deathmatch, but unfortunately I haven't found a single TDM match in about 8 months. Only people playing (if they ARE playing) is in Regular Deathmatch

*NOTE* I have been taking it easy on the newbies (for fear of scaring them away from CQC), and only target other Ranked/ good CMDRs (unless a newbie engages me 1st). I can offer tips and tricks on playing CQC as well. You want me to hold a workshop, I will lol. Not saying I'm the best, but I'm in that group ;)

Feel free to add me through Steam or the game itself, I'm trying to do something about this mess and get an actual group together. Let's all shoot each other in the face repeatedly, and laugh like mad men and women

Hello Commander,
You can find a lot of good players here: https://discord.gg/fc8R5NV
We're a friendly bunch, come and join us. When there are enough players we usually do TDM or CTF. (They are hard to start you need at least 6 players searching at the same time to be able to start.)

From the Dev Team: "We’re also very pleased to announce our first competitive Close Quarter Combat Tournament. This will be open to all PC, Mac, and Xbox Elite: Dangerous players so get practicing! We’ll be running qualifying periods each month where players will be competing for a chance win a free trip to the live final in the UK, covering all flights (where necessary) and accommodation. The total prize budget, including cash prizes, flights and accommodation for qualifying winners will be over a staggering $100,000 USD."

When was this supposed to take place?

Meh, that's not gonna happen, I don't know why it is still there. It kinda shows the love the devs give to CQC nowadays :/

I wanted to play 1 vs 1 with my friend... but we can't do this...
Also playing with bots would be fun. I dont really want to wait couple minutes for match making server... when I got spare 30minutes all I want some close quarters action with one of my friends... right here, right now.
Most times I tried cqc it ended after 30s of matchmaking... i dont have time for that.

I do believe tomorrow FD is hosting a CQC live stream from 1900 IGT. I may come in game for a few rounds.

It's been months since I played CQC. Don't let the prestige mark fool you - I will be rusty. :p

Might give some of us rubbish pilots a chance at pay back then :)
