Let’s demand South American Animal pack!

Nobody is claiming that? Judging from most wishlists etc., most people want the tropical species from that continent. (and like NZfanatic commented: iconic species).
You mentioned there are many non-tropical species in SA. You are right but this doesn't reflect in most wishlists. And you would pick only non-tropical species from that continent, there isn't that much appeal to it.

If another SA pack should happen, tropical species will be the majority within that pack. And at this point, i'd prefer other biomes.
I wouldn't mind a tropical pack with a mix from several continents somewhere down the line.
I think most of the tropical rainforest animals have been covered with the south american and aquatic dlc's, with the exception of a few like the capybara, coati and sloth. On the other hand, maned wolf, spectacled bear, bush dog, patagonian mara, magellanic penguin, greater rhea, pudú, guanaco, vicuña and any armadillo of choice are all associated with other regions like steppe, alpine or desert. Non-tropical iconic zoo species from south america are the ones that were left out the most in my opinion.

Kind of and you are right that some of the animals may be associated with other biomes but I really can’t imagine this game with just one South American primate species - howler monkey is a must for me along with capybara, Coati and maned wolf. The rest I will obviously miss but can survive without.

Agouti are bigger than the Chinese pangolin, and are also very common in zoo collections. Honestly the agouti is an animal that would fit perfectly into the game, I think.
Pangolins are too small for me that is why I don’t use them very often. I prefer bigger species. That is why I think that lowland paca would be better choice.
I’m glad you have different opinion. The more the better.

Well, at the expense of, say, the Himalayan brown bear, or one of the giant tortoises.

Edit: In any case, it's not about what should have been in the base game, but about what could have been in the base game. I also don't think the time or resources are really important - it's pretty clear that at least the Arctic Pack assets were ready to go as of the base game release, or at the very least they were almost done.
You can't try and suggest that the amount of effort that went into the Himalayan brown bear or second tortoise comes close to that required for even the two biggest clones in this DLC pack. It's night and day. If the polar bear had been in the base game, we'd either have to sub it out for an ill-fitting otherwise base game animal replacement in the DLC (or cut a second substantial animal as well to get a wolverine or muskox or what have you), or best/worst case it could've hit base game and we'd have only gotten 3 new animals in the DLC.

I'm not sure what you're getting at. As I said, the Arctic Pack assets were almost certainly finished before the base game launched, so putting them into the base game wouldn't have required any extra work at all.

Size of both can be similar but paca’s can weight up to 12kg and agouti up to 3kg 😆
Now you know what I mean.

Paca average around 6-14kg, while agouti get in at around 4-5kg depending on the species. In saying that, I don't understand why weight should make a difference to you, considering you don't actually measure their weight in-game. If they're the same physical size overall, which generally they are, it makes no sense to prefer the paca to the agouti due to its size. If you just like paca better then you can just say that,

As you like it.

Like I said I prefer larger animals. Also paca can dive and in my opinion has more interesting coloration than agouti and please don’t try to convince me that animal weighting 14kg is the same as the one weighting 4 kg because it’s not true.

Please don’t get me wrong I love agoutis but in my opinion paca is more versatile and fitting for the game and that’s it. This is just my opinion. If you think differently it’s great. That is why this world is so diverse and great😉

Lowland Pacas have a height of 11”-14.6” (28-37 cm), body length between 23.6”-31.5” (60-80 cm), and an overall weight in the range of 13-31 lb (6-14 kg). The tail length of a Lowland Paca is 5.1”-9” (13-23 cm). Lowland Pacas have a typical lifespan of up to 12 years in the wild and between 12-16 years in captivity.
