Let's get another thing straight.

I play in open because I like the unknown interactions, be them good or bad, that can surprise and delight.

...but usually end up in the insurance rebuy screen for someone. Good or bad :)

I play in open because I have no choice other than solo. Fdev considerately removed the option for PG in the doctored Xbox version so to avoid confusion and lengthy forum debates.

Died 6 times. 2 of those were pvp. One of those I was ganked by a wing of four. The other I was messing around in a sidey looking for trouble.

Played in open for over 500 hours.

I play in open almost exclusively, mainly due to being an instructor at the Lidpar pilot training facility, helping the newer Cmdrs along... 14 rebuys, of which 10 of them were to NPC T-9's jamming me in the slot. None to PvP as yet although I've had to deal with several optimistic ganking attempts.

I mean... a few attempted gankings by a series of Corvettes that looked like their mothers had outfitted for them. I usually fly a decently fitted Fer de Lunchbox...

I play in Open for the same reasons. I've seen the rebuy screen many times in the last year or more - 4 times to CMDRs (and sent 2 CMDRs to their own rebuy screens). I like small ships and tend to fly without enough insurance (cramming in more cargo), so I keep a good ship in LHS 3447, just in case.

I play in open for the very same reason, and only been killed by another commander once (he was in a Viper and me in a unarmed Type 7...).

I've done many more friends in the outer space than enemies to be honest..

I play in open because I like to see other people playing the game and going about their business. I used to pirate people in the gentlemanly way. But the game just doesn't offer either me or the mark the means to take anything from the experience. I don't pirate anymore too much hard work. Anyway since then and I'm talking main release here I've been killed by players twice. Out of the literally 10s of thousands of players I've seen in game maybe a dozen have tried to kill me with no provocation.

The game is enriched by other players around I don't understand the crew that rail against open. They have solo and group to play in whenever they want. Hopefully FD soon cotton on to the fact that supporting people in open is one of the big keys to keeping this game alive.

I've just straightened my leg, do I need to make a thread?*

I play in open because I enjoy it. I am very happy if folks prefer solo as long as they enjoy it for whatever reason. Who on earth would argue with that!

Can we stop now?
