Ships Let's keep this to ourselves...

I did a bad thing.

I left a few comments recently on 'Dangerous Discussion', pointing out how blindingly brilliant the Python becomes when engineered. I shouldn't have said anything. I realise that now.

If the devs come poking about in this forum, just keep schtum about it, okay? Don't for heaven's sake tell them that it's the most fun you can possibly have in the PvE game, or the fact that with dd5's it handles like a Cobra MkIII, and strips it for pace.

Don't let on about the shields, either, and not a word about the weaponry or distributor. In short, let's keep this to ourselves; for what FDev giveth....

:x

Mum's the word. With all the (negative) attention the Fer-De-Lance is getting right now for being overpowered, maybe our little Python will evade yet another nerfing.

Doesn't it just grip your ++EXPLETIVE DELETED++ that all it takes is a bunch of disgruntled ++EXPLETIVE DELETED++ to moan OP!! At the devs and we see potential ++EXPLETIVE DELETED++ nerfs?

Glad I got that off my ++EXPLETIVE DELETED++ chest.

FD's idea of Balance is to "Nerf" so yes yes, keep it on the low down.........

Why are we posting in here about this....lol Oh well FD know now, prepare for incoming hotfix nerf-in-ator update

Yes I quite agree the Python really really pleasy needs a Buff.

That should balance this thread out (now where is that cunning plan emote when you need it) ;)

You had to go and start a thread didn't you? And now

Hello Commanders!

We’re going to experiment with a somewhat radical change to shields. We don’t necessarily expect it to stick beyond the beta, because we’re not sure if it goes too far or not far enough, or even if it’s the best avenue to explore.
read through that post and you can see how it'll nerf the Python. Summary: large & medium weapons less effective against the big 3, big three get a hull boost, all ships lose engineered shield effectiveness.

Engineered shield booster effectiveness*

Might only actually affect you if you use all 4 slots for all the same type of shield booster. Personally I have 2x heavy duty, 1 resistance augmented, and the other slot is a chaff launcher. So my build is only getting a buff with regards shield regeneration time - which, by the way, is getting quicker.

Sure, the big 3 are getting a buff, but really, adding extra challenge to killing them is a good thing. As well this largely affects engineered ships, so not NPCs all that much. Us combat Python pilots might not notice that much of a difference.

It is getting quicker.. But it's getting proportionally more quicker for bigger shields. Other ships are seeing the introduction of military slots, which will further buff their hull values and integrity, the Python gets nothing there. Also, since the Python lacks a huge hardpoint, ttk against large ships is going to increase.

I think if you add up all the things, the Python is coming off worse out of a whole host of other ships, especially considering its price point.

Credist ae a very simple way to balance stuff. Might powerful stuff more expensive. Would probalbly save a lot of development time. They coudl spedn that deve time just dealing with teh credit making exploits.
