Let's raise a monument at Beagle Point.

I think it would be terrific if the expedition logo, or some other symbol, could be placed at the final waypoint. (A flag, statue, beacon, plaque, laser-engraved mountainside, whatever)
We've all got plenty of synthesis materials, and likely a few tonnes of cargo as well.
Could we pitch this idea to the devs & make it happen to commemorate the expedition? It would be an interesting mark to make once we arrive, unless we all get ambushed by thargoids in the near future. :p

Would require specific graphics created, implemented and added to the game turning the procedurally generated planet into a manually edited one, hopefully without any bugs..

It would be awesome but I can't see it happening looking at it realistically.

An inanimate object that is only a visual feature could hopefully be introduced in a future patch. It doesn't have to be anything but decor.

Or a monument at base camp with the names on of all the distant world explorers that made the trip.

If Fdev agrees, I volunteer to leave my Anaconda obelisk-style on BP (tail or nose dug in) to commemorate.

But only if they agree. I'm not just blowing up for nothing! :)

If they have multi-crew by then I'll give you a lift back.... "it uses the lotion....." :D

I would love to see them add some info to the system map in the info tab that the planet/moon was a waypoint on the DW expedition. But I'm probably asking for too much.

A thought - are cargo containers persistent? A pyramid of Lavian Brandy would seem to be a suitable memorial :)

Or possibly laid out in a smiley face?

Well, the Devs are gathering feedback on named surface markers for the future amongst other things such as naming / renaming planets, surface stations and the like. The idea is the possibility to buy such things from the store, so they look like they are toying with introducing the technology dependent on user feedback. Perhaps we could offer to place the first prototype for them ;)
