Sorry about that. Overseers can be elusive or booked up at times. The things is that as with all ratting activities Overseers/Trainers are all volunteers. We have to do the best that we can, juggling our real life, our work schedule, timezones, Our own ratting/leisure,, and our duties in our respective roles. Those things can cause come delays in arranging drills, but given the time that it takes to properly prepare to rat, it's not usually a significant issue. Additionally, few months ago a couple of trainers were promoted to overseer as well (It's above my pay-grade to know the real reasons for that, but both IMO were well deserved promotions and I'm guessing, were to provide more overseer cover). As I mentioned in an earlier post, undrilled rats can go on cases, but that is at the dispatcher's discretion. If an undrilled rat had need seen chatting to other rats, asking intelligent questions about procedure etc., that will increase their chance of being sent. It's the observe piece I couldn't make happen - nobody was available.
A lot more goes non behind the scenes to arrange drills/trainings than the student sees. For example for a recent training, I chatted with that student in dm for 10 mins to get a feel for their needs, spent another 5 mins posting requests for helpers (Ideally I need other experienced rats to help dispatch the practice case and to be rescued). When those requests turned up only one of the two assistants I needed, I had to hunt down a rat to act as damsel, that, and when I found one, getting said ratto up to speed on what I needed them to do probably took another hour), I spent about 30 mins on a lesson plan. Then at the appointed hour. Myself and my helpers each spent about an hour and a half setting up the training and running the session. (As it happened, the training went well, and I punted the ratling off to an overseer who jjust happened to be one of my assistants for the trainign, and the ratling was successfully drilled the following day.
But yes, having to get those schedules aligned can cause some delays..
