Let's talk about mice & keyboards!

I've been using my mouse and keyboard a lot more lately.

I now feel quite competent with the input for gaming purposes, and I've actually put my Xbox controller away.

I don't play Elite with mouse and keyboard mind. I have an X52. Why would I? :p

But for all my other games... Yep. Running mouse and keyboard now, pretty much exclusively.

Got past that earlier issue with my "keys not registering". I really did just need to train myself more. Keys work fine, I was just an idiot.

What devices are you rocking?

I'm using a Razer Ornata as my keyboard, which is an interesting model. It's membrane, but each key also has a clip giving them some feedback and an audible click. It also has the best damn wrist rest I have ever used. It is supremely comfortable over long periods. And I easily play ESO for 6 hours+ in one go. It also has full support in Razer Synapse, meaning that the customisation options for this plank are pretty much endless, and of course, lots of colour options. Admittedly though I just have a static red on my setup. All in all I can recommend this keyboard. It is good, and definitely up at the top in the membrane switch offerings.

But my mouse... Oh how I love my mouse. Razer Naga Trinity. This is basically the Cobra Mk III of gaming mice. The Razer Naga has always been popular with us MMO/MOBA gamers for the amount of side buttons it offers. But the previous versions pale in comparison to the latest Trinity model. The name is no coincidence. It has three configurations via detachable side plates that offer 2/7/12 button layouts. This makes the mouse very versatile, as it can be fitted with archetype button layouts for many, many games. As well as the 7/12 button layouts, which were previously offered on separate models, it also has a typical MB4/5 option making it quite suited to people who want the option to run a mouse with "normal" buttons, whilst able to handle MMOs too. Oh... The scroll wheel also tilts to the left and right, giving yet another two buttons. All these buttons can be assigned commands via Synapse, and again it has full RGB lighting with effects.

Definitely recommend the Naga. If you play MMOs there is no better mouse.

Honourable shout-out to my mouse mat. Yes as you can tell I like Razer but in fairness, I've gotten so much out of them; I do actually use their software functionally. I love their input devices. I'm not a total fanboi. I don't use their headsets. In fact I'm quite critical of those, as my friend has a few over the years. I prefer other names in that department. But yeah... Even my mouse mat has RGB lighting. Totally pointless but I like shiny lights LOL. And actually, it is a quality surface and I do attribute it to the performance of my mouse sensor, which is stupidly accurate.

I've lost count of how many Naga's and Deathadders I've worn out. This is my 3rd Deathstalker - left shift has a nasty habit of getting stuck on these.

HyperX Alloy keyboard (Cherry Brown)
Corsair Ironclaw mouse

I usually go through keyboards and mice pretty quickly sue to my bad temper, though. These two are holding their ground for almost half a year, now, though, which is admirable during all the smashing and throwing.

Logitech fanboi here as opposed to the 90's Razer rubbish ;)

G-502 Proteus mouse and G-910 keyboard...I like the 2 year unlimited warranty. If I break it or snort some coffee and toast all over it after reading the Star citizen thread...Logitech send me a new one.

I used to play with tablet and pen quite a while ago. Weird, I know, but strategy games oftentimes worked perfectly fine with them and pens are way easier on the wrist in longer game sessions.

Nowadays, my wacom is gathering dust, as modern games seem to ignore this input option and the experience is screwed - if it works at all.
I find this trend very unfortunate.

Which mouse and keyboard I use?
I have no idea without looking.
Both equipments always seemed way to mundane to lose to much thoughts about them.
This is will not change for my keyboard.
Regarding the mouse, I might have to care more. My current one (it was not cheap!) tends to “hang” every now and then, which is very annoying. Maybe this thread will help me to find a more suitable one.

I been using the Logitech MX Master for a very long time with cheep K360 Logi keyboard (both wireless) and I love the precision. Its great for work (Photoshop) and for gaming imo.

G-502 and G-413 Carbon here. Very good mouse, very good keyboard. Small footprint, hefty, no frills, it's a keyboard, I just need keys that do their work. In the dark when needed.

Had my Sidewinder X6 + R.A.T. 7 k+m combo for years, still going strong but in the hands of my lady now. The Sidewinder is still one of the best keyboards ever made in my opinion, a shame Microsoft didn't keep up with that line of products. Took a while to adjust to the Logitech setup, but it works very well for just about everything.

The MX Master has been arguably one of the best mice around for years. Don't tell this to pro e-sports gamers RGB enthusiasts though, it's a very well kept secret. :p

To add to this - I had few other wireless mouse and KB combos earlier and all of them suffered from lag or connection issues. But with MX all issues are gone.

Logitech G903. Went through one replacement and on the second one swapped the microswitches on the main buttons because Logitech are unabashedly using counterfeit switches that make bad contact and don't snap properly, causing misfires. Would not trust Logitech again. (Changing the microswitches requires completely dismantling the mouse, removing the battery with a high chance of breaking it, and applying new skates.)

Keyboard is a Ducky One2 with Cherry silvers which is nice enough.

Hmm... Shooters? M&Kb.

Racing game? Wheel or Pad

ED? Hotas or nothing. Personally I can't help but feel M&Kb is a cop out on ED.

Logitech G700, it's not even supported anymore by the latest Logitech software, but the thing just won't break. :D

back in the early 2000s I had a logitech mouse that lasted for years and years, but then it got gunked up inside and turned out impossible to open the thing up to clean it without breaking the pads on the bottom. Got another logitech, and not only did the LMB wear out within the year, it was their new "unified" wireless controller which had a horrible issue where it'd just go to sleep randomly and not wake up unless you clicked a button. Likewise, the keyboard would just stop sending inputs at seemingly random intervals, stall, then send all my keypresses at once a few seconds later. Mildly annoying when typing an email, an absolute killer for games.

replaced the mouse with one of their wired gaming mice (why the hell is it impossible to get a wired mouse with thumb buttons without it being some PRO GAMER GAMING thing? I want it to switch tabs in the browser ferchristsake) and the LMB still started doubleclicking when it shouldn't after about a year. Opened it up, and the plastic of the housing literally had an indent worn into it by the microswitch. Doesn't matter how many clicks your switches can take if the thing pressing them wears out in a fraction of the time!

So I replaced my keyboard with a corsair k30. Again, all I want is a wired (for reliability) keyboard with media keys on it, and apparently they don't sell those in regular stores any more unless you want to go for the PRO GAMER LOOK AT OUR LEDS AND MACRO BUTTONS models - they go from £5 cheap crap basic keyboards, then everything's wireless until you get to the gamer nonsense. Mouse, I'm using a perixx MX-2000 II. It's pretty solid, no complaints, does everything I want out of a mouse.

Logitech 902 Keyboard + G502 mouse. Can't go beyond that (that keyboard is mechanical) I'm afraid - ever. It was expensive, I don't remember how much I paid for it, but that thing 'resonates', it's like playing on real piano vs cheap casio synth.

I don't like using the stylus for gaming, but it's definitely my go to control method for everything else I do with my computer. I just bought a Wacom Cintiq Pro 24" for Photoshop & art creation and I'm absolutely loving it. The etched glass laminated surface in conjunction with the Pro Pen 2 is just amazing.

Some games I prefer to manipulate with a pad, Dark Souls III for instance, but I also have a Razer Orbweaver Chroma gamepad, Razer Blackwidow Chroma v2 keyboard and a Logitech g902 mouse. I've used a lot of mechanical keyboards and the Blackwidow is hands down my favorite so far.

I use a standard logitech K350 keyboard and mouse, wireless. I altered almost all the keybinds for easier reach and my own logic. I really like the control it gives me with turning and being able to break down the keys although at first it was quite complicated and took a lot of getting used to with this type of game. Most games don't have so many systems or need so many keybinds to remember. Once I got the order I wanted its become sort of muscle memory now and feels pretty natural.
I use the mouse for roll in flight and combinations of ctrl and shift +wasdqerf keys for thrust and maneuvering in normal flight and combat. I've always had trouble with controllers as I do not typically play console games and mouse keyboard has always been my input device. I do wish Fdev would break down the subsystems a little more to allow a more uniform keybind system so I could use the same keys across multiple elements. there are times when the cross over from one system messes up the set up. I bought those rechargeable battery packs so I can rotate fresh batteries regularly but this wireless keyboard and mouse seems to not burn up battery life very fast at all. I only wish someone would come up with a Keyboard that didn't erase the keys after prolonged usage. within a year I end up having to replace my keyboard because i rub all the letters off.

had a razor mamba once. shiny, gadgety, overpriced piece of crap. this gamer hardware as of late is pure swindle: cheap hardware with fancy finish in glossy boxes, some rgb nonsense squeezed in and, behold, configured on the cloud. and kids buy this crap in spades, these razor guys must be getting filthy rich and really laughing their arxes off.

I haven't tried their mouses, but Razer's keyboards and gamepads seem very well built.

Logitech G602 mouse for me. Best mouse I've ever had, perfect amount of buttons. They're all easily accessible and there's plenty of them for binding.
