Let's talk about shops

Hello everyone! I am pretty new here but wanted to say hello and create my first post about one area of the game that has been on my mind a lot - shops.

I would like to share two tips I have discovered about shops and then ask if anyone else has tips or tweaks that would help me in career mode (which I love).

So here is my tip #1 -

One of the first things I do in any park or scenario is go into the shops and edit their inventory. In case you have ever checked all food/drink shops have additional options for each item sold. You can select the extras added as well as the quantity of each extra "a little, some, a lot". This is a bit of a vague and confusing option because you aren't really given information about how much those extras cost, if anything, and what impact they have on guest satisfaction.

After a decent amount of testing I have found a formula I'm pretty happy with. First off, I always select ALL of the extras for anything, I don't try to customize. Usually I will try to have one item with "a little" one with "some" and one with "a lot" extras. I increase the prices for "a little" by $1, "some" by $2 and "a lot" by $3. So far I have found this to be a pretty good formula with most of my shops getting a lot of customers and making a lot of money. If anyone else has tweaked those numbers different I would like to know.

tip #2 -

For those that play the scenarios I have found that one of the most important things to do is to close every shop and fire nearly all of the vendors when you start. Maps like the one that takes place in the bad neighborhood start with like 20 shops and so many vendors. I fire everyone. These shops are too numerous to make money. I see that they did this on a huge number of scenarios in the game including Oak Park and once I close the shops I make a lot of money.

I would suggest having 1 drink, 1 food, and 1 toilet for every 5 rides or so. I personally do not use info booths or fast pass. Do not hire any entertainers they only decrease your profits.

If your starting a new scenario, first thing you should do is Pause the time so that its not wasting your money or having staff quit. Then place a bunch of flat rides down to increase profits, and research the ATM right away. Unpause until you can afford to build your next ride.

Thanks for sharing but that guide still doesn't go into how the customization options effect guess interest, profits & satisfaction.

Does adding every topping on a Pizza with "a lot" cost the shop more money? If not, why not just give every single thing "a lot" to increase guest interest.

I am hoping someone knows more about this, so far I have just made my small bit of discoveries from trial and error but I would like to know for sure that these options actually do something.

According to the guide it says: "Set all the extras in your food and drink shops to "A lot". This attracts guests like props do for rides."

Caffeine, coffee, energy drinks all increase guests energy. If you have a lot of benches, guests will not buy energy/coffee because the benches refill their energy for free.

I have heard some people say that salt makes guests more thirsty, and ice will decrease the effectiveness of drinks, but I am not certain if that is actually true or not. Otherwise, adding more toppings will only help increase sales. It does not cost anything

Also, I would never use the expensive marketing ads, just have 1 cheap ad running at all times.
