General / Off-Topic Let's talk about xbox live... Attention it's a rant...

Ok so just let's take a moment to talk about xbox live and their abyssmal service, constant problems and their disabillity to solve anything for longer than a month.

I've been an xbox guy from day one back in 2001 i think. Great times. The 360 had it share of problems and all but overall it was a great console and i loved it. Xbox live worked just fine without any greater problems. I also owned a ps3 wich is a great console as well but i always favoured the 360.

About 1 and a half year ago i got myself the one and since then microsoft has done their utmost to deprive me from my gaming expirience. There are problems with xbox live at least once or twice a month and the ms service is just absolutely worthless.

I bought a ps4 last december and i really like it. Not that i wanted to ditch my one but ps4 online service was down for 3 hours max since i got it. They even sent me a code for 1 day playstation plus to say sorry for the mistake.

On the one however it just throws you out and you wont be able to play for the rest of the day.
It is beyond me how they are incapable to maintain a steady comnection with the online gaming part while the social media and all that other nonsense works just fine all the time. They really need to sort out their priorities.

They are really trying hard to ruin it for me.
And before you ask, yes i always go to www.xbox.com/status just to see that the problem is on their end.
I even called a few times and all they told me is that i have to wait. No sorry or "we are doing our best".
If this continues like this i will propably stop putting up with this crap.

Way to go microsoft... way to go..

I'm sorry i really had to vent this or else my controller would be flying across my room. :)

What do you guys think?

I think that this belongs in Off Topic, since it doesn't involve Elite Dangerous.

That sucks but for me personally I've had rarely any issues when I've been online aside from when there's the widespread XBL issues which has been 2/3 times, I've had grief getting online and such when a games severs are down more than issues with XBL

again im in Europe though

Tbh I have no love for the new breed of consoles and their subscription multiplayer systems, seeing as ED runs on years old hardware reasonably there is no need to jump to them. Having got a 360 myself and a ps3 I have to say I enjoy multiplayer on the ps3 more as it's not subscription based.

Actually i am from europe. Switzerland to be exact. This is just beyond everything how MS is running their own service face first into a buzz saw.
They have lost so many customers because of this. Many of my friends sold the one for a ps4 because they had enough of this garbage.

I know that my Xbox sometimes tells me there is a problem when checking my network (because of problems on my end) but that's about it.

xb1 east coast, new york infact and i am overall pleased with xb1 and its continuing improvements. i agree out of the gate it wasnt as impressive but i have few issues now and i like the power of the system. xb live i feel gets better over time and never seems to back track. and finally parties are a pleasant experience on the 1.

Support for switzerland is run by germany. I do believe they have a server. So they are the ones screwing up all the time. I can't help it but i'm about to leave xbox live. I just do not have the willpower to put up with this crap anymore and not getting any help from the support.

I will enjoy NMS and Horizons. Its just the xbox live part that bugs me enourmously. Just cant wrap my head around it how one can screw up something that has worked just fine for years.

Not leaving ED though. It just starts to get extremely annoying

Never had any real issues outside the various DDoS incidents. And those DDoS incidents happen to Sony and Steam as well on occasion.

With Sony getting their PS player accounts hacked and exposed not once but three times now? Sony's general lack of concern for their play base altogether and general system going down for days, I have more faith and trust with the Microsoft infrastructure than PS infrastructure not to mention safety of my account information.

How can people not care about their personal details going free to the dark web from Sony in various divisions, even celebrities aren't safe with Sony. How many times has Microsoft's user information base been exposed? 0 I can find. Even the US government high secure information bases has exposed details more times than Microsoft has.

I'll take a few live issues than have my info passed around to ID theft outlets.

The point with Sony is definetly something I agree with.

Indeed, i think in Europe the service is better.

Infact, major Microsoft servers are almost standing in my backyard.. lol

The Netherlands is a major internet hub for Facebook, Google, and Microsoft. Because, well, the internet here is reliable, and very fast.

XBL is no less (or more) reliable than any other interwebz service I've used.

Yeah, the servers go wonky sometimes. So do FD's. So do Ubisoft's. And EA's. And everyone else's.

Is just nature of beast.

Well i guess i just have bad luck.
Was playing today and it threw me out 4 times. Checked the support site and the problem was on their side. If the problem is on my side i usually see it because the router is in my line of sight and has a red light blinking if something is wrong.

I agree with what some people said about sony, ubisift and so on. It just feels like microsoft is putting all their strength in the social media, multimedia part than on the gaming part, which i do not understand since the xbox one is meant for gaming.

At least thats how i see it.
I don't need all this fancy crap like zatoo, netflix and so on on my console. Almost every tv has that built in already if one really wants to use it.
I think its time to go back to the good old days. Pop in a disc and just play the game.

If it continues like that it'll just end up in a huge mess.
Just my opinnion, don't know if anyone agrees with me or if i'm alone with this.

Midwest USA here, almost never have outages regarding xbox live around here. Maybe there's a bad gateway between you and the regional server you're accessing? Idk.

I have to say, I rarely see a problem with Xbox Live itself these days. In fact, aside from one particular time back in December I think, any issues I've had have been specifically down to Elite's own servers rather than the Xbox Live service as a whole.
