Lets talk system requirements

Since Frontier seems to be loosening up some with information about the game and it's less than 90 days from release I hope they release some system requirements for the PC. I am sure my PC can handle it. From what I have seen of the game it looks like it will use Frontiers in house Cobra engine. The game looks great from the Dinosaur models down to the vegetation, water and the land itself. It all looks very good. Even the buildings.

I have Planet Coaster and that game makes my GPU sound like a jet engine and I can't get a steady 60 FPS in that game. So I am hoping this game will not be the same way. My frame rate in Planet Coaster isn't bad but I have to tweak settings to get my GPU to quiet down some. Planet Coaster looks good and even with some settings lowered.

Obviously I will try the game on max settings to see what it looks like. My nephew wants the game and his computer isn't as good as mine. So I will have to set it up for him I imagine.

I am just really curious as to what the requirements are and how demanding the game is.

Well I will be playing on my PC cause I don't have a PS4 or Xbox One.

It will probably look ok on the PS4. If it was some other management game graphics wouldn't matter a whole lot. But in this case everything looking as good as possible is part of the experience. Especially the Dinosaur models. When I was posting on the old JPLegacy forum they had a thread where players would post screens shots from JPOG using different mods and trying to make the game look as good as possible. This was around 2007-2008 and it was JPOG so you could only make it look so good but people still tried anyway.

That's what we need here a screen shot thread for the game, when it's released of course.

I'd like to think that minimum specs would be the same as the PlanCo minimum specs, purely because on it's base level the games are the same, just differently skinned. AI aside the graphics and animations for the visitors and Dinos are in place of all the flat ride and coaster animations. Plus there won't be things like gravity/ride physics/friction etc needed (or at least, not to the degree you'd need it in PC) so that's gonna save resources

I'm gonna hazard a guess though that specs and stuff like that will probably be available on or just after 29th. If not from Frontier itself then potentially from one of the event attendees

What the hell are you using, a laptop? I have a desktop machine where all the fans run at full speed continually because a steady drone is far less noticeable and annoying than a rising and falling noise. Plus the generally lower temperatures probably extend component life.

I have an asus geforce 1080 with a massive heatsink and fans that frequently STOP because so much air is going through the damn thing, and I can't even HEAR when the fans on that guy spin up.

So if you're using a laptop...you crazy. If you're running a desktop, just set your to run anyway.

No way in hell would I try and use a laptop for any heavy gaming. I am using a desktop, one I built myself in late 2016. I have an i7 6700, Windows 10 64 bit Home edition, 16GB DDR4 RAM and a MSI R9 390. I Also have 3 140mm fans for the case. My case is a Fractal R5 with the clear plastic window and the sound dampening rubber on the inside. One of the 140mm fans is in front of the HDD/SSD cage but it's not very big and only two of the cage slots are open. I can't overclock my CPU either so IO use the stock cooler.

From what I have read online is the R9 390 is known to be noisy with some games and it runs warmer than most cards. I want to upgrade to a 1070 some time when the prices come down. Until then I will just keep using the 390. It's a good card. Saying it sounds like a jet might have been a little much but it does make some noise when the fans start really blowing. I keep my case clean with an air compressor and I clean the cards fans. It's just a noisy GPU I guess.

Also the case fans are hooked up to a switch so I can change the speed at which they run from the case itself. My GPU fans are on auto, they come on when needed and my CPU fan is the same. Though my GPUs fans will stop running while I surf the web or watch videos, basically casual light stuff.

Not gonna lie, I'm not sure why Radeon cards are still a thing. Yes they're cheaper than NVidia but it's no secret NVidia cards blow Radeon out the water. And yeah, a few people I know who either have Radeons in their rigs currently or used to have all mentioned excess noise from those things

It's a shame the crypto bubble has inflated GPU costs so much, where I am they're still £150 more than they should be and I'm waiting for the 1060 6GB as well as my 750 TI is just past it's prime

I have to say competition is good cause it keeps Nvidia on their toes and keeps them honest. My first choice was an EVGA 970 but it was more expensive than the 390. I got the 390 on Newegg during a sale for $300 and the 970 was well over $300, I believe closer to $400. I don't have any loyalty to either company. I just went with what I thought was a better deal. The 970 had that issue with it's VRAM where it only had 3.5GB when it's advertised as 4GB. So I decided to go with the 390 cause of cost and the memory issue. I get 8GB of memory compared to the 970's 3.5.

It's only noisy with certain games. I can play Doom 2016 and it's relatively quiet. GTA it doesn't make much noise, maybe in certain places in the game it might get a little loud. But some games it really makes the card loud. Unfortunately Planet Coaster is one. I have an idea about limiting the frame rate to 30 FPS cause it's a management sim so a 60 fps frame rate isn't that important. That's mostly for shooters and other games that require you to be twitchy. Maybe limiting the frame rate to 30 will cut back on some of the noise.

Here in the US I believe all GPU's are several hundred dollars well over the MSRP. I wanted to upgrade to a 1070 months ago but I am not paying $700 or more for a GPU. The cryptocurrency mining has made a huge mess of the prices.

I'm using an rx 480 which I got for a normal price before the crypto madness. Paired with a freesync monitor its worked out a real bargin.

It still owns all games I play including the recent titles. If I were to have a 1060 which is of similar performance and wanted a g-snyc monitor the cost would have been way more.

I'm also getting extremely positive results in VR. Not bad for £180 18 months ago.

In games that use Vulkan I get ridiculous frame rates. Its fair to say the card need more cooling that the Nvidias but raedon chill really helps out there too.
