Letter to Distant Ganks Leadership

To: CMDR Zarek Null, Leader Distant Ganks, New Dominion
Re: Business Opportunities

Sir,

I know you're a busy man so I'll make this short.

I've experienced an unfortunate misunderstanding back home that has left me devastated financially. For the first time ever I find myself taking up employment trucking goods back and forth between space stations. I've found this to be only minimally profitable since all the large interests in the galaxy have things pretty much locked down. I'll have to spend a couple of years trucking goods just to pay for the loaner Sidewinder and flight classes afforded me by the government. It is a great system if you like being an indentured servant.

I don't have much of a political bent, the changing of governments usually means nothing to me. However, it occurs to me that if you do manage to overthrow the old orders that the resulting chaos may allow me to advance in my new career at an accelerated pace. This would work much like a crack in the concrete allows grass to spring up - perhaps you're the sledgehammer delivering the down trodden in the galaxy a new set of opportunities?

I know I could really use some opportunity - a crack in the concrete of the current order.

I'm too old to be much use as a fighter pilot and I do not seek to join your ranks; however, I would like to know if there is a 'tax' I could pay - a symbolic thing to show my allegiance to your new order - and all I'd ask in return is to not be destroyed by your capable forces, and perhaps be allowed to take advantage of the economic opportunities that spring up amidst the smoke and carnage of your current crusade. The tax would need to be very small as I'm a poor man, but obviously, as I advanced in any new economic order - well, you get the idea.

Every new government needs commerce and all good businessmen pay taxes.

Respectfully,

Wargfoot

Pilot in Training

I think if you greet ZO in comms, you're golden. Sort of like a secret public handshake. Your allegiance is your tax.

I'm guessing though.

He wants his public recognition. Z0. However I sent you an in-game friend request if you are serious about earning credits. I'm in Eravate taking on various wing pirate/massacre missions.

I don't want to be bobbing along in open space, in a rented tin can no less, taking wild guesses at what the leader of a new and powerful faction may require.

Commander with the Warg feet,

Due to issues with player instancing, there is nothing to fear about being attacked by Zarek's goons. No matter how good of a PvP pilot one is, if one can't even locate one's target, skill will be of no help. Zarek is pure psychobabble. It is your right, of course to align with him, but why do so when you could be a Fuel Rat, Rock Rat, or join Operation IDA or the Anti Xeno Initiative? These groups actually make the game better. They are populated by folk who do not need infamy for motivation. Your gift of obeisance is meaningless to the likes of Null. You will simply be exploited. Nothing is sacred or revered except their hatred of combat logging. Anything else goes.

Best wishes and o7

Anyone that joins the New Dominion squadron (or a New Dominion affiliate squadron such as SDC, Nomads, or Continuum) receives full immunity from attack, and the freedom to conduct any business you like unimpeded.

Money is of little use to me. My objective is the unification of all spaceborne people and for that I need ALL Pilots Federation commanders to join my side. Do that, and you will receive all the accompanying benefits.

What about health insurance and pension entitlement? How many days off do your pilots get per year? Is there a christmas gratification? Questions, questions, questions...

Thank you!

I've a friend who is just starting to play (and I'll be too busy this weekend); however, once we get ships in order I'll give you a holler and you can show us how to make some credits. It is going to be a couple of weeks - right now I'm still fiddlin' with the controls and learning how to do all the basic stuff. Kinda taking it slow and easy.

This seems like an disarmingly generous response.
I'm starting to think that your reputation for being an irrational, blood-thirsty minion of evil may be unearned.

Very interesting.

I'm interested in learning about these other groups.

Here is some info regarding the Fuel Rats: They rescue Commanders anywhere in the galaxy for free.

The Rock Rats are a group specializing in astro-geology, mining, planetary body make up. They are scientific sorts.

Operation Ida concentrates on repairing stations that have been wrecked by the Thargoids:

AXI The Anti Xeno Initiative concentrates on wrecking Thargoids:

The above link has a link to their discord which has a lot of info.

Although you can only be in one squadron, you could conceivably participate in all of them. They are all very friendly and open-minded.

Totally awesome.

I tried to type 'F.R.E.A.K.I.N.G' awesome but could not do that, as it got moderated.
Is that particularly bad slang in the UK?
Over here in the states it is the polite thing to say in place of rude language.

All ZO may gank, but all gankers do not ZO. ZO therfore is not complete gank protection.

I ZO. He's the best. The human part.

Sometimes I wonder whether Commander Null is simply someone else's political puppet. It would be so much more fun to lurk in the shadows and manipulate this overgrown addled Teddy Bear.

I wonder what Toaster Face is up to?

My most trusted underlord, the robotic cosmic vampire known as CMDR SAI-4 to which you refer is thriving in the Kini (anarchy) system where he routinely feeds upon the exploding frameshift drives of unsuspecting Pilots Federation commanders. And despite the fact that he only flies a shieldless, unengineered eagle, *he has never been destroyed* in PvP since his creation. He even defeated an engineered corvetted piloted by a commander belonging to Dark Echo: https://youtu.be/0bw9Z3eOuDk
