Letterbox touched = Ship blows up

Greetings Commanders,
So after the Python is dead in my eyes, I switched to trading just to grind some more coin when new combat ships finally arrive.
I was making a run in my Type-9 with 500t of cargo over to Faraday Ring, Bunda.

Well, guess what happened. I moved through the letterbox at around 80m/s and when I was already inside the station I merely touched what seemed to be the letterbox with the back of my ship and instantly blew up. That's 5.2 million credits in insurance down the drain plus the 500t of Performance Enhancers I was hauling.

So, collision system is still messed up it seems... Definitely going to ticket this and hope I will get my credits back. Of course I could cover the insurance costs and I will be able to make up for the loss in no time but still, I believe this is not how it is meant to work now, is it?

Didn't use the search function just now because I rushed this thread a bit but I guess I'm not the only one that was affected by this.

Fly safe Commanders, and don't try to touch anything but the landing pad inside the station. You might regret it.

P.S. I am flying with shields naturally, A5 Class. I am not that stupid to fly without them and then complain about collision destruction.

Not seeing that here, A5 shields on my T9 always 4 pips when docking/undocking. Also had some idiot try and ram me with his T7, nothing happened.

Scraped the top of the docking port in my Clipper at high speed on a test run, again nothing happened.
 
Strange indeed... Well I am sure I touched something while going in because I heard my shields scratch something. It wasn't the usual collision mess where you lose shields and hull very quickly. I literally had no time to react. The same happened when I touched on of the capital ships with a Dropship in the 1.1 Beta test.

*sigh* it's not like I flew into a wall or something. Besides I said I was already inside the station. There is no reason for the ship to blow up this fast.

In a T9? It's impossible to go fast unless you max your distributer and have a constant boost supply. The Op was going at 80, which would mean he didn't have full pips to shields.

Not full, yes but 2. And as I said, it wasn't a frontal collision. Oh and with 4 pips to shields and 2 to engines, I can still go 89m/s with full 500t cargo.

For 500 cargo you've been flying without shields.

I think the reactor is on the back of your ship. I know how you hit the entrance, for it happens to me quite often (pad 2 anyone). So I think you destroyed the reactor and this destroyed your ship. I doubt it's ticketable.
Be more careful next time.


ps. there might be still a problem with collision damage, but I think I read this has been fixed in the hotfix yesterday. search the forums on this.

No, I was NOT flying without shields. I have A5 shields on my Type-9.

Yeah sorry my mistake, just departed with a full cargo load (D7 thrusters) Can do 84m/s with 4 pips to shileds 2 to engines. Btw I just whacked the ship on the way out, not a scratch

@specialsymbol - 500T is shielded... 528T is without shileds

Slow down? Nah - speed up.

While this bug was active I was bouncing about the letterbox in my cobra (You know how it goes, you've got to get those slaves inside before the scan completes. I was freeing them, honestly!!!)

The bug registered slight scrapes as a series of bounces, which magnified the damage. Full speed bangs did not get affected by the bug.

Was supposed to be fixed last night.
