Level 2 and 3 detailed scans?

I'm setting myself up with an asp, and have a detailed surface scanner, and the advanced discovery scanner, what equipment do I need to do these more detailed scans? Or is there some procedure I don't know?

They're not implemented yet. Perhaps with the planetary landings expansion.
If you're using an Asp, drop down the power plant to 3A, much cheaper, same heat efficiency, and better jump range. You can also get a lighter power distributor, you won't spend a lot of time out of super cruise.

Can't yet. It'll probably be part of the planetary landings paid expansion, such as atmospheric samples and surface samples.

Do we know yet that any content expansions are going to be cost options? I doubt that will go down well given that people are currently bemoaning the "lack of content". Their opinion not mine.

Wings were already said to be free updates.

But other stuff, like planetary landings etc., were always announced as paid expansions. That's why there was a "lifetime expansion pass" for sale during beta...

Look at it from another way -- without payed expansions, their only revenue would be basic game sales, paint jobs / decals, and merchandise. How long, do you think, could they keep working on those expansions with that kind of revenue?

A very valid point, and i was thinking the same whilst I was typing. It would make sense but I can see there being those that will whine about it. Would be interesting to see if they offer lifetime upgrade passes now it's released. On an aside it's interesting to compare the business models of Blizzard and CCP, both of whom charge a monthly fee to pay. Blizzard charges for content updates, but CCP roll them out for free. Perhaps not comparing like with like exactly but go on.

I wonder in FD are contemplating a monthly fee once the multiplayer content is a bit more sorted.

Personally i doubt it. FD are determined to keep control of the game so that they can develop it the way they want. However slight the chance may be, monthly fees give the players leverage to try and force through changes that may contrary to FD's plan.

I'm not sure i agree with that theory. Does it really matter which way FD get paid for new content? If it's a pay for content model then if players aren't seeing the content that they want in a new patch they wont pay for it. If they are paying monthly they will get the new patches regardless. I suppose if people weren't getting the content they wanted they would just stop paying the monthly fee. Now would that stop them paying completely or just stop them getting new content?

Hmm I would appear to have gone off topic somewhat! Apologies to the OP.
