LFT 1 and the background simulation

Well, tonight I had a sad surprise from Elite.

Four months ago, I posted this on Reddit:
https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/2zh3tj/lft_1_now_a_federation_anarchy_system/

I was so pleased to have flipped a system I adopted from being controlled by pirates, to being controlled by the Federation.

I checked up on the system from time to time. The LFT 1 Confederacy owning both stations was having an effect: slowly but surely they were getting more and more influential, while the LFT 1 Cartel was losing ground.

Tonight I checked in on them again...... only to find the system reset to the way it was before my cousin and I waged our private war.

A month of my efforts were reset. This........sucks. Even if it was just one system, and had no real impact, it was always neat to see the system and think "We did that."

No I can see what people mean when they say the background sim is broken. :\

You understand that is hard to know what's broken and what's not without actually asking QA about it? It might be easily someone deciding to flip system back.

Could well have been flipped by a PowerPlay group to make the system easier to extract CC from.

The system is currently owned by Hudson--a Fed power. The LFT 1 Confederacy was the Fed power in the system--that was the point. Also, it's a TINY system; nobody would have prepared it (instead of the massive systems near it, like Andhrimi). Finally, the influences are back to EXACTLY, down to the percentage point, where they were when I started. It's unlikely someone would reset it exactly to where it was (even the other minor factions in the system are back to exactly where they were!), even if some group of Anachists did decide to flip this super tiny system in the middle of Hudson space.

In short, while it's not IMPOSSIBLE that I'm wrong, it's extremely unlikely.

Hrm, maybe systems gravitate to a "set point?"

Although, from what I understand, PP effects have basically destroyed galactic staBility, so could also be this'd.

It's possible. It would have had to gravitate awfully quickly to have reset this much in the few weeks since I last checked. To give you some idea, the Fed faction (Confederacy) started at about 4% and the Cartel started at 63%. It was early in the game for me and I didn't realize what a slog I was in for when I reversed that. By the time I finished it was something like 65% Confeds, 10% Cartel. We smashed 'em good. :) What's more, in the months since we flipped it, every time I checked, the gap just grew more since the Confeds owned both stations and got all the rep from the background AI activity, as well as any trading/bounty hunting players were doing in the system.

Definitely seems like some kind of bug to me. Too specific not to be a reset and If resets like that are not a bug then my working quietly away in my home system that nobody visits for a minor faction nobody has heard of is a total waste of time. Did you ticket it?

Yep. And fixed!

Thanks, FDev! :D
