Newcomer / Intro Liberate Bootleg Liquor : how ?

Took a mission to "Liberate Bootleg Liquor"

Dropped into the system. Scan = nothing
Went to the system beacon. Scan = nothing
Went to hypercruise, minimal speed. Scanned EVERY single signal = none are related to the mission
Left panel, every single item checked = none related to mission

How do I do that mission ?

Scanning the nav beacon should if the planet/moon is not already identified show where to go. Once at the planet/moon (in orbit) the PoI will appear.

Not had any of these problems myself.

Steve

Im going around to gather mats to engineer a new ship.
Seriously, half the missions dont even work.

In the left panel, no moon or any planet or anything is identified as mission.
I did scan the nav beacon : dropped 100 in front of it + target and waited for scan
Also did use the scanner (the honk one) in front of it.

Guess that's another impossible mission to abandon ?

Took screenshots of every single signal left panel. None say mission.
Am I supposed to look for some special icon on the left that tells where to go ?

If I remember properly a whole line should have a different color to see where to go ?

It can indeed seem that way when mechanics are not thorougly explained. (ship log uplink stacking is one that can bug out)

I've been stacking liberate liquor missions for the last couple of weeks bc i need the data from the skimmers.

You need to find the mission target using your FSS; it will be on a planet. (orange, then blue marker)

The mission says "liberate" so I think some combat is required. I'm dropping into all the signals that show combat but nothing so far.

It will be a blue "globe"; it will show orange first in the FSS. -need to use the "signal" filter at the very left of the spectrum when in the FSS.

Once you see that it has orange then blue you will recognize it.

It is not a random signal but a mission one.

There can be some enemies but it is generally much more smuggling related than combat.

It is not one of the signals that you are looking for, it is the planet/moon highlighted. Once you get there, the PoI will be on the surface. And you need a SRV and a ship with spare cargo capacity. No combat usually required unless criminals are present.

Every time I get back into hyperthing I get new signals. I scan them all using the leftmost setting to look for signals.
But none get orange inside the bubble. All I find is combat signals, destroyed ships signals.

I have landed on a planet and Im going around in a settlement to see if I can find those liquors somewhere in a box perhaps.

I tried scanning the beacon. Every signal. Going out and in of the system. Going out and back again into hyper to scan signals again.
Keep searching on the left panel or the system map. Nothing. And I am in the proper system for the mission.

It is not a signal source that you are looking for, it is a Point of Interest (PoI on the surface). The body the PoI is on will be indicated.

Steve

I dont understand. I have to scan all signals with the FSS
But the mission is a POI on a planet ? The FSS does not point to POIs on planets.

It will usually mark the planet as the mission target, once you have scanned you open up the system map and it will show the relevant planet, it won't show up on the nav panel until you scan the correct planet with the DSS.

SteveWW is correct

You enter the system. You should get a message that lists a target planet. (This info will not be in the left hand panel but in the messages)

Go to the planet and approach it. It will pop-up like POI discovered something. Some other missions require you to surface scan the planet

Land on planet. collect cargo

Did not.

I went into the system : no message.
Went to the beacon, scanned it : no message.
Used the Honk scan both ast the sun and in front of the beacon : no message.

Went away from the sun, and dropped into the scanner.
Scanned every planet, everything up until 100 %
Moved the caret left and scanned every single signal. They are all blue, and either destroyed ship or combat noise.
Checked with care the left panel : no marker, no icon, no mission item. Nothing.

I went to another system where I have a "find blackbox" mission.
Entering the system tells me a signal has been detected :

I check the left panel, I have a special color for the mission objective :

I get to the signal and grab the 2 black boxes, it completes the mission with no issue :

This mission worked fine.

The "liberate liquor" absolutely did not : no message. no signal. nothing when you get into the system. nothing when you scan all signals. nothing when you scan the beacon....

Some missions just dont seem to work at all in the game. Comparing the "liberate liquor" to the "get that blackbox" is a night and day experience difference,.

Yeah black box missions will come up like that because black box missions are in space, I'm pretty sure planet based missions won't come up with a signal when you drop into the system, they require 2 different processes to follow, however you were there and we weren't so if you did look thoroughly and checked all the planets with the FSS and DSS then it may have been bugged.

The issue might stem from the colour of the UI making it exceedingly difficult to see the target planet in FSS...

Like i said i've been doing the liberate liquor missions for weeks and not one bug out.

I am not saying it is impossible, because software/network can be fickle.

I am saying it is most likely an issue of grokking.
