General / Off-Topic Life has been very good to me.

Yes, you guessed it. I found two dimes in the parking lot! Count em! Two! :D

So, for those who aren't familiar with the American coinage, one dime = 10 cents. So two dimes...let's see. 10 times 2, carry the one, um...you figure it out.

I feel like I won the lottery!

Post your recent financial exploits here. Don't be shy.

My 1080 ti has paid for itself three times in six months.

I also found a 20 dollar bill in an old jacket the other day, but the jacket doesn't fit.

Frontier stocks worth almost 3-times as much now vs. when I bought them - I guess that qualifies. :)

Is there a plug&play version of mining? Not if right now I had the hardware, but I'm planning to upgrade to a decent Volta this year.

From time to time when I go to the laundromat, I put a coin instead of two and the machine runs

There are no small profits

:)

I was shopping with my wife this morning. My phone let out a loud alarm, Incoming Ballistic missile, Take cover immediately. This is not a drill.

I felt prepared having had 2 years playing fallout 4, I went straight to the drinks cooler and started stocking up on bottled capped drinks,
lol (do bottle caps count?)

BTW, no one in the Health food store panicked. I was latter surprised to see many did elsewhere :D

That's a win for us all, a failsafe launch system linked to whatever caused the missile alert could have made the world a very different place.

It was very decent of you to explain the value of a dime. Although it's a well known name, the first time I received one in my change during my first trip to the US I remember having to calculate back to work out what this small silver coin was worth. Equally, though, many years ago I used to have an American girlfriend who had to ask me what the hell I was talking about when I would refer to a quid.

My own financial windfall this week was winning a lucky dip in the National Lottery - I suppose if it then becomes the winning ticket of a multi-week rollover it is a huge win, but at best it just means I won't spend £2 to enter this weekend's draw (whether I want to or not). My wife also found £15 in a bundle of old receipts she gave the children to shred too - hopefully that wasn't after they had already turned several twenties in to confetti. There was the mild inconvenience that the notes are no longer accepted in shops but she just changed them at the bank.
