Life Outside the Cockpit Please

Please FD, thanks for all the effort to introduce PP, but it would be so nice to get out of my cockpit stretch my legs and interact...with someone, something (warehouse or office), some how? IMHO FD should be focussing on this sooner rather than later!

I'm sure it's coming, personally I don't see the point. Sure you can leave your ship but what then..? Walking around a space station is going to get boring fast. I'd rather see Planetary Landing first, now that I'm looking forward to. Loved it in Frontier.

No. You're thinking of Star Citizen (Assuming they manage to finish it some day). This isn't that game, nor should it be.

I would also really like to see this added, but I see the largest problem being the station layout. I can already see people complaining, "All the coriolis stations are exactly the same! FIX IT NOW. MAKE DIFFERENT INTERIORS!":D

That would probably be the most difficult part, and making the gravity differences between places like the docking bay, and the park areas you see on Orbis starports, so in the docking bay you could jump large distances because of the 1/10 gravity, but jump a normal distance in the outer areas. I could see the interior problem fixed by making the interiors modular. Say you have the interior of a station to fill with different areas. Shopping, residential, industrial, etc. Have a few different versions of those areas and then basically cut-and-paste them into the stations randomly, but with the industrial sections in one area, residential in another, etc. That would allow the stations to be different and still have it be a somewhat small workload for FD.

Walking around ships, stations and planets is planned for the 10 year development life but the sheer scale of putting any of those into action is at least a year away if not more (In my opinion) and I'd be shocked to see it sooner.
I'd prefer them to use the do it once and do it right approach and take the time to make it work well.

Nope, he's thinking Elite: Dangerous. First Person a planned expansion, it's been there since the Kickstarter.

This....Stop with this ''This is not Star Citizens'' crap please...we're all aware of it....nobody ask for a FPS here, and if the game can benefit of further expansions as cities, planetary landing and walk around in planets and stations (and why not, an interstellar pub) has nothing to do with SC...Chris Roberts have not copyrights for the stuff above, and i strongly hope it will become reality ASAP.

Braben have is beautyful vision of this stuff...and i can bet it will be completely different from SC, even if the contents could look the same.

The idea of walking about doesn't interest me and personally I would prefer more to be done to improve space related activities, UI, clan support ....before anything else.

Once walking about starts we will have more people asking for FPS style additions to the game before we know it.

FPS Has not been discussed from Braben If i recall correctly, and this should not seems to be in his plans...anyway i think more contents we have, the better. I'm not against anything.

Cities? Walking around in planets and stations with interstellar bars?

This is pie in the sky stuff. FDev have the resources, maybe, to make Elite: Dangerous with more fleshed out missions, a dozen or so more ships, and keep the servers, universe, galnet etc going.

I doubt they've the resources to basically make the most massive game ever. Let's take a look at one great big awkward fact here for everyone hoping for this content; it's taken FDev half a year to come up with wings, powerplay (which are basically just re-hashed community goals overlaid over a board game), and a total of around 8 new ships.

You all want interactive stations and planets? See you in 2060.

Stations need a lounge for a quiet civil chat, a bar with gogo space dancers/music for dirty deals and blackmarket sales/missions to exachange, add a Ship Paint Shop for real money as in Launcher Shop, perhaps an Info Desk for galaxy system info and players suggested trade routes/rares to buy withy credits.
Walking around the ship was in the Trailer so it must be in the game.

The things you mentioned took so long, BECAUSE they are already working on the expansions. They made a whole galaxy in the meantime, so I can hardly agree on your concerns.

FPS will most certainly come to support "big hunting" on planets, "fighting on stations" and "boarding ships". I really look forward to it.

maybe...but in 10 years development i'm sure something of rhis stuff will be implemented...let's see what SC will become...in Italy we say , ''we'll see the good horse in long distances.'' .)

Yep. I feel more like a ship than a person... in a lifeless universe. Since the Alpha release, people have been begging for them to add things that make the universe feel more alive. Little things like people moving about in the stations. They have continually ignored that request.

They have to many bugs to try to fix in what we have to start worrying about adding more that will come when they try to do the out of ship stuff. Plus the way it is going I doubt you will see this game active in 2 years much less 10 if they don't start listening to the playerbase more
